I know a lot's been said about this game, and I've not had a chance to read the whole thread yet, but wanted to have my say. What a wonderful day it was yesterday. The drive both ways from Essex with the roof down on my MX-5, the day after the clocks go forward so it's still light afterwards, and sunny weather throughout. The clouds over the Main Stand before kick off were stunning. And then the game. You may know this already (!), but I love Lennett for the sheer effort he puts in, but so many others put in a proper shift too yesterday, in a way I've not seen for ages. There were players chasing down Wigan balls from their defence in the 89thish minute! Just so good to see. Those basics I have been lamenting not seeing time and again were there for the most part. And a cracking penalty save, two lovely assists from wide, Jobe being a revelation again, the formation and the opportunities it offered, and the fun with Godo (and him taking it so well, to his credit). There was a lot to love out there. For the first time this season I went to a football match on a sunny day and was entertained! Entertained! By us! This season with these players! I don't need reminding why I love watching football at The Abbey, but if I ever do I'll remember yesterday as one of the reasons. There have been better Cambridge United performances and games, and there were a few things we need to sort out, and we are still in a relegation...skirmish...but bloody hell I loved it yesterday. Thank you Monk, thank you the players, thank you the fans and the stewards and the grounds staff and everyone else involved. Thank you all. We are blessed with a cracking football club community and we need to remember that and cherish it. I think we mostly do but sometimes our patience is tested! Still, onwards...and UIE. Great post. Sums up how I felt yesterday. Best game this season (I know there's not much contest but still!). Still riding high off it today. And, yes, Godo did take it all with good humour. What a free kick!

He gave Godo a stiff shaft, that’s for sure. I always thought that Godo was supposed to be arriving and not coming...

Don’t really know (or particularly care about) the scientific basis to calculate xG but Flashscore has us at 0.46 v Wigan 1.53 !
Barnsley match has us at 0.27 v 1.28 ?

MX-5 slander is most uncouth, however stiff or supple it may make your shaft. He gave Godo a stiff shaft, that’s for sure. I always thought that Godo was supposed to be arriving and not coming... Either way, we're waiting for him.

Don’t really know (or particularly care about) the scientific basis to calculate xG but Flashscore has us at 0.46 v Wigan 1.53 ! Barnsley match has us at 0.27 v 1.28 ? For Wigan the penalty would have been around 0.85 of that as something like 5 out of 6 penalties are scored, they also had the 1 on 1 which they did score that would have had a high XG return. Whereas you don’t see too many free kicks from that position get buried in the back of the net and credit to Gassan for both his chances being put in the corner of the net. As you say though can be an odd stat as you’d think we were lucky to win looking at most of the stats yet watching the game would tell a very different story.

Suppose the OG at Barnsley was 0 & they don't count the disallowed header so our 2nd goal was a 1 in 4 chance then
