Oops I totally forgot about Morrison. Yes, definitely on the contenders list.
I'll be amazed if Bennett doesn't win it though.
Also Brophy has 3 assists. BBC uses the PA numbers I think which erroneously didn't credit him with one of them (same as Kachunga missing one from the Shrewsbury game).

It's gotta be Dandrew innit? A slightly rough start but he's been mr consistent since. Not bad in the bad games, and very good in the good ones.

Morrison for me, closely followed by Liam Bennett.
Danny Andrew would be third choice.

Morrison for me. Very consistent. It has to be a defender from this season and Andrew would be my second with Lennet third.
I suspect Liam Bennet will win though.
Morrison for goal of the season though.

Morrison for goal of the season though. Obviously. Andrew's free kick against Wigan the runner-up. Not sure I can even think of a top 5 to be perfectly honest. Lankester's scored a couple of decent ones I suppose.

Andrew for me, certainly 'most improved' after an unconvincing start but has to be first name on the teamsheet each week.
As others say, I can see Liam winning it at a bit of a canter though.
Gassan would have been higher up my list but too many games out injured for me.

Liam Bennett or Morrison for me. Haven't really been impressed with Danny Andrew until the second half of the season.

Not just the finish, which was sublime rather than spectacular, but also the passing and cross that preceded it.

Maybe the ball out from Stevens, the give and go, the wing play and deep cross from Janneh and the crashing header from...Gassan was it?
Can't remember who it was against but it was early season, a great swift breakaway goal, and all pointed towards good times in the moment, sigh.

It was a nice goal but if we're considering that 1 of the best 5 of the season, it does tell you rather a lot.

Honestly I'm kinda surprised people are really considering Morro. Like, yeah, moment of magic, and some decent performances in places, but he was one half of the terrible central defensive units for the scum, cobblers, lincoln, pompey, chavs, bolton, reading (etc!) games, and even when we weren't conceding hatfuls, we were often sat deep and ineffective in midfield to compensate for the immobility of him and Rennet as a partnership.
To be clear, the partnership was the problem more than the person, (even if he didn't really impress as part of Morrokedina either), and I do rate the guy, but neither he nor Rennet should be anywhere near this discussion

Controversial opinion of mine but should he be given another deal - he will be 37 next year? I don't believe both he & Rennett should be offered deals. There was talk of a player-coaching role for Morrison when he came next year. Perhaps that may be the route with him not being a regular starter?

There was talk of a player-coaching role for Morrison when he came next year. Perhaps that may be the route with him not being a regular starter? I'm torn tbh. Zeno and Jubs both turn 24 in October (born only 2 days apart) and both have the quality at this level, they just need a run in the team. Jobe, if we can get him to re-sign, would be a great young back up. Lennett is under contract. Andrew will surely be offered another. On pure philosophy of wanting to get some youth and energy about us, I'd say no. But, in reality, centre back is the one position you don't want to mess around. Young players also need experienced leaders and Morro is that. So for me, I'd let Rennett go, keep Morro (if the wages are right) and look for one of Zeno, Jubs or Jobe to step up. Maybe both can play regularly if we go with a back three. Then we need some serious remodelling work higher up the pitch, because that's where we've come unstuck this season. We had defensive nightmares against P*sh, Lincoln (twice) and Reading, but aside from that, we've done ok at the back. Something like 13 clean sheets. I think we have only one attacking player who is on form and under contract, and he's done a cruciate (Thomas). I'd like us to look for up and coming attacking talent doing well in League 2 or the conference to take us forward. Six Luke Berry's circa 2014.

We've had a few batterings this season, but aside from those 4 or 5 games, our defence has been the most consistently good thing about us this season. The midfield being deep is a separate problem of Cousins and Digby being too similar rather than the defence. We've kept a decent number of clean sheets and haven't conceded many goals in average (yes, aside 4 or 5 games). It was only 18 months ago the we had Taylor and Okedina at centre back for a run of games - Morrison and Bennett, although slow, have been a massive upgrade.
