Eh, it's easy enough. Just join in. Enthusiasm is contagious. Even if only one or two people join in on the right side with walking down newmarket road, more will join the next song, and some of those will start their own.

It's been years since I was put out to graze in the Main Stand, and I now sit high up behind the home dugout. I have to say, at times when the NRE are really 'on it' the volume coming from there is enough to get us old codgers clapping along with the chants, but when the team's struggling on the pitch it's a bit flat. Some of the chants have been changed a bit recently, which is a good thing, except when really bad language rings out, and the young kids take it in. Oh, one more thing....Why have we adopted the Give a dog a bone paddywack song ? It's always been a Manchester United song. I hate it.

Even if only one or two people join in on the right side with walking down newmarket road, more will join the next song, and some of those will start their own. Definitely this, if a few people persist you definitely get a few more joining in and once you have 50-100 or so singing loudly the rest join in pretty quickly too. Wycombe game was the best atmosphere I'd heard in a while, even heard the Main Stand joining in on multiple occasions. That said the atmosphere in the NRE has been pretty awful all season. Acoustics don't help but the 2 times i've sat in the SS this year you could hear a murmur but couldn't really make out any of the songs the NRE were singing. I've been a ST holder in both the Habbin and the NRE over the years, next year will be my first in the Main Stand as my 7 year old isn't big enough to stand (much to my 12 year old's disappointment as he prefers the NRE). The one benefit of the layout is that when my 7 year old doesn't attend we can just walk into the NRE without needing to switch tickets so that's one plus I guess.

He'll never admit it (don't blame him) but the good Father now stands alongside myself and close associates. I can confirm that he has now joined the chorus of despair and is equally mystified as to the identity of the person nearby who clearly eats nothing but brussels sprouts before every match. That's a consequence of my manifestation as the Holy Ghost, which occasionally takes the form of intestinal gas. People pay good money for this in Italy.
My perennially ugly mood is exacerbated by the proximity of Laurence Fox, Andrew Scott, Rolf Harris & his lurch of a mate who obscures 40% of the pitch with his vast bobbing skull.

As someone who frequents the far right hand side of the North Habbin I might have to consider relocating back to the NRE as I suspect this area will attract some of our neanderthal fans looking to goad the visiting supporters, as well as the smell which will come from the inbred scum when they are in town.

I was thinking about some of our "new" fans at the Wycombe game. While most of us were crapping ourselves, there appeared to be many happy people in the N Habin. Chatting away and laughing a couple of minutes after their equaliser, having banal conversations about the fcking premier league and generally not appearing to care that we might be returning to L2. It's great that our crowds have gone up so much, how many of the newcomers are actually fans is questionable though, and they certainly haven't improved the atmosphere.

Yeah, I found the NRE very jovial which was strange. Either people around me were much more confident than me, or they didn’t quite understand the situation we were in. Hoping it was the former.

Whilst I was very tense, bookies had us at 34/1 before that match. Logic was with those being jovial ones around you

Hear quite a lot of Premier League chat in the South Habbin, along the lines of “do you get down Spurs much?” During the Wycombe game there was some bloke near the fence that divides the Habbin who shouted some sort of unintelligible word whenever Mannion took a goal kick. Some variation of HOOF maybe but never heard it before. Bit strange really.

I think we have to accept their are a lot of fans like that. At the end of the day the quality in the PL is so much better than a lot of the dross we watch. That said, I know a lot of people that have gone off PL football because of the money, whinging and VAR so that could help bring some extra fans out to more local games too.

Have noticed a distinct uptick over the course of this season & last in the number of people on the terraces following the Prem games because they've got some bets on.

If we want to reap the benefits of the recent boost in attendances and see it continue, more than ever we’re going to have to accept a fairly high proportion of 2CWery. It’s not exactly a new phenomenon that Cambridge as a place has a lot of Sp*rs fans. It’s also to be completely expected that a lot of our new supporters are adults, who were already local and football fans who just haven’t fancied coming to The Abbey until recent times.

I was convinced we would be ok after the 2 wins at Easter, for me there wasn't much tension in the last 2 games. The Wycombe equaliser was just a slight bump so still felt fairly confident despite us not winning and the Cheltenham scoreline. I was itching to start a 'Borough get battered, everywhere they go' chant but thought others might not share my optimism so decided against it'
