That's a couple of rumours coming to fruition now. It'll be interesting to see how he features, if he's looking to start or just wait for a chance like Mannion did. A bit of pressure on Stevens which can only be a good thing.

And another one who was linked with us in the various rumoure earlier in the summer. An international too so he clearly fits the mould of what we are going after this summer!
Difficult to see how Vicente would be starting on day one of the season, but clearly a good use of the loan market and hopefully a player who will push Stevens all the way for the shirt.

The wording from both the player and Monk suggests he is here to challenge for the No 1 jersey, but I can't see his development being furthered by sitting on the bench all season. I'm not sure NCFC would want to see that.

Nice to get another one sorted.
Not sure there's a clear number 1 really, but typically I'd think that if you loan in a goalie you intend him to be your first pick. Different vibe if it's an outfield player.
We'll see anyway, seems promising.

Don't misunderstand my point (unless I wrote it badly which I probably did!), I fully expect a player with the pedigree Vinnie (club is calling him that when asking us to follow him on X) has to be fully challenging and earning the no.1 shirt - this is why loaning in a starlet like this is clearly the right thing for us to do.

I said at the start of the summer we need to utilise the loan market to create a much stronger squad, and have a couple of players capable coming in and being a starting player even if they're a loan.
Reyes would seem to be one of those as Stevens was poor before his injury and would probably have started the season as no.2. Reyes got excellent reviews whilst on loan at FGR and if you're in the provisional squad for the Copa America then you must have a bit about you.

It was a 55 man squad to give slight balance...but yeah, Chile are no slouches in world football so that's still a sign of good potential.
It's another thing that makes me think he's here as first pick as presumably he'd want to capitalise on that and keep developing.
Seems like a smart move regardless. Stevens was fine for about 3/4 of the season but was clearly affected with the rest of the squad when Harris slithered away. I'm happy enough if he starts as I think he's mostly good enough, mostly.

Stevens, when his head is right, is a more than decent keeper for this level. The issue, for me at least, is that his performance level seems to drop considerably following an error more often than not.
