"At a Conference Hearing held yesterday, Histon FC pleaded guilty to the charge of incorrectly completing the FQR4 (Financial Reporting Return for 2009/10) in April 2010. The principal issue was regarding PAYE & NI amounts owing. This matter has since been addressed and settled in full with HMRC in September 2010. A secondary concern is a VAT return submitted in 2009 and Histon FC is collaborating with HMRC to clarify the position.
The Conference has issued the following penalty;
· 5 point deduction.
· £5,000 fine, suspended for two years.
· Embargo on signing players with immediate effect until the query over VAT is resolved. When this matter is resolved the embargo will be lifted."

No, it probably wasn't going to happen anyway.
I like that everytime you type Histon on this forum, 'Village' is inserted into the text too.

I think the points deduction will ultimately do them a favour by concentrating their minds on reforming at a lower more affordable level

I think the points deduction will ultimately do them a favour by concentrating their minds on reforming at a lower more affordable level They've long accepted that they'll almost certainly be in the BSS next season. Most of them before the season even started. I wonder if they'll voluntarily drop another league or 2...

I'd be surprised if they can realistically afford BSS level with their attendances, but would equally be surprised if they voluntarily dropped down another league if they are relegated at the end of this season.
Until the points deduction they were very much in the mix for staying up with the tiny budget they have this season.

They'll soon be back to their natural level, playing the likes of Great Yarmouth et al.

I think their team as it is now would probably hold it's own in the BSS but - realistically - players like Oyebanjo, Riza, Clerima aren't going to drop a division and I'd expect Welch, Sparkes & Murray to be able to find BSP football if they wanted it, in which case there'd be a distinct possibility of them fighting it out at the foot of the table.
That said, I can't see their attendances taking any more of a hit than they have this season if they get relegated (as it's only the core left now anyway) so if they're "sustainable" on their budget as is, they'd probably be ok in the BSS next season

Wouldn't they end up in the BSN though?
