I want everyone to share there stories of playing as the mighty U's
Great signings Winning Tactics Honours Where ex United players are now Still got any United players yourself Where are Pish and Histon I could go on this game is so fascinating to discuss...
I look forward to hearing your tales and I'll post mine when I've got some time on my hands.

I play the current one 2011, love it! I play with the level 11 download, so i play with kershaw prem with teams like Fulbourn and Shelford. I can never be CUFC just dont like it Tactics wise i always used to play 4-4-2 but now play a choice of 3 formations 4-4-2 4-1-3-1-1 4-3-2-1 Its actually quite hard down at the lower levels as the players arent great, but attack is best form of defence. I managed Ajax and won everything domestically in 3 seasons and got approached by Man Utd and in 20 seasons won everything. Prem 15 times,FA cup 12,League cup 9,Champions league 6,Club world cup 6,super cup 6, charity shield 10 Always start off at a smaller club, had one player for Man Utd, was a regen but i signed him from beskitas at 17. Atalay Baysal was his name, had scored 30 in 33 by time id signed him and by time he was 30 he had scored 250 in 270 games. was so good! best player ive ever seen on the game. What would people want added to the new release later in the year?

I'm playing as Cambridge Utd, as I do on every version of the game. I'm in my 2nd year in the Premier league after qualifying for the Europa league in my 1st season there (finished 6th). Got through the group stage too and have a game against Juventus in the ko round.
I'll post further details when I next play it.

I'm normally a 'sleeping giant', basically anyone with a big fanbase who are lower down the leagues. Someone like a Southampton, I always task myself with returning to former glories.
On my main game on FM11 I started as Leicester, finished the first season in the bottom half and was under a lot of pressure. The 2nd season I finished in the play-offs and got promoted. I started in the Premier League having signed Michael Owen on a free and a French striker who has 20 finishing (forgotten his name). They kept me above the relegation zone alongside the impressive Andy King. Half way through that season I did something I haven't done before and took up a job offer, Sunderland come in offering a £50m transfer kitty. I moved to Sunderland who were struggling and steadied the ship.
I started the next season with them promisingly and we were fighting to get into Europe, I started a bit of a Steve Bruce trend when Villa come in and offered me the job. So after 2 and a half seasons at Leicester, then a season at Sunderland I moved onto Villa. I was here for the next 5 or so seasons, bringing in the likes of Bojan, an amazing Greek regen centre back and Aaron Ramsey. He was mega cheap at £5m and we went on to win the League for a couple of seasons. After my 4th season there after winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champs League treble I invested massively in players like Pastore (£40m) and couldn't buy a win for love nor money. I was 7th in the League around half way through the season when Man City came in. I thought I'd taken Villa as far as I could so moved on again.
I'm now in around 2021-22 and have done the double with Man City a couple of seasons in a row of League and FA Cup, yet to crack Europe though, losing in finals and semi-finals most years. As I've now 'done it all' I'm waiting for the U's job to become available to go back and leave City for a heroes return at the Abbey. They are in League 1 under Mark Yates so I'll be waiting a while, but with us being my favourite club and being a consistent winner of Premier League titles I'm hoping it will just be a formality me getting the job! I did try and make Mark Yates my assistant so that the job would become free but he was having none of it.
I've left that game for a while and am now playing as the U's for the first time ever, I'm in my 2nd season and after a torrid first season I'm now top half way through the second season. Out of all cups at the first attempt but I threw my fringe players out as I'm concentrating on the league. Will update again at the end of my 2nd season!

I have always played CM01/02, I find this the ultimate version of the game. There's a web community dedicated to keeping it alive by using an army of global researchers updating the code and a programmer or two making alterations - including the starting season etc.
I had a hooky copy of FM2010, but didn't like it - just too much detail to have to faff about with which took all the enjoyment out of it for me.
Anyhow, I'm managing Perugia at the moment - the fallen giants of Italian football. Just coming to the end of the second season. I won Serie 2/C and have wrapped up Serie 2/B already, including a 20 game winning streak at the start of the season. 2 games left, and IIRC I'm P32/W30/D0/L2 and 4-0 up after the first leg of the Serie C cup semi final. I have a multi-national team, for example the keeper is from Nicaragua, back four are from Surinam, Greece, China and Ecuador. 3 Englishmen in midfield (including Seth Johnson and Michael Standing) plus a Bosnian. Another Greek and a Venezualen veteran up front.
Best video game ever, I've been playing it for 10 years and still love it

Best video game ever, I've been playing it for 10 years and still love it I'd go along with that, definitely the best version of any game I've ever played. I remember signing a young Fernando Torres for £3.5m for Charlton before he was a 'name'. He went on to be the best player in the game and when he come to prominence in the real world of football I liked to think I'd played my part in his rise to fame. This might be a bit sad, but me and my mate would cut out any headlines when we used to play both hunched over the same computer and put them around the monitor we were using. We'd get headlines of any players we'd signed! I've still got screenshots saved somewhere of where I beat him in the European final with Liverpool and he was Man Utd. Anyone remember a player called Michael Dunwell (I think that's right) you could sign from Bishops Stortford who went on to become world class? I'll have a quick look for that screenshot as I'm sure he got a hat-trick for me in that European Cup final.

Another cracking player in the vanilla 01/02 install was a Portugese lad called 'To Madeira' who could be purchased for peanuts and would sign for any club. He could score 50 goals a season at any level. Anyhow, CM0102 is available FREE legally from Eidos these days. Here is the link to the fan run site, which in turn links to the game download, and all associated updates and patches required to 'modernise' the game. It's well worth a visit: champman0102.co.uk/forum/content.php?s=6f2dcf7b74591c266a6a830cfeb2a5d3

To Madeira was an invented player, he wasn't real but was created with fantastic stats.
I'm a CM01/02 lover, am currently building the best team I've possibly ever created on it. Set the task of a respectable league finish, I guided Crystal Palace to promotion to the Prem in my first season via the playoffs, and then finished 5th in my first season. To Madeira has 87 goals in 94 games for me since signing. Other excellent players on that game are Mark Kerr, Kim Kallstrom, Zola Moukoko and Dionisis Chiotis. Just about to start my third season, I've just signed Maxim Tsigalko, whose stats are about as good as Madeira's.

Wow Matt, those names you've just mentioned have brought back some memories! Have you had a look for Jonas Lunden? Sweden was bursting with amazing players, I can't get out of the habit of scouting Sweden on the later FM versions because of CM01/02.

I have Bakircioglu as well, alongside Kerr as part of a three man central midfield. Happy days.

Bakircioglu and Kim Kallstrom may be the only ones of the gifted Scandinavian group in that game that actually came good!

Currently in 9th season. I'm In the Premiership with Cambridge on Fm2011 I play a 4-4-2, which is actually more of a 4-2-2-2 with 2 wide advanced winger and play attacking football with a high defensive line. My usual teamsheet is; Zurro I.Collins P.Atziena J.Matip F.Huntley D.Reeves M.Bassiouny V.Boekel M.Marrone N.Robson Griffiths Zurro cost me £15m, Collins free, Atziena free (arsenal), Matip £5, Huntley £4 (arsenal, Reeves £8 (Rangers), Bassiouney free, Boekel £8 (ajax), Marrone free, Robson £2m (Wolves), Griffiths free (blackpool). Griffiths has 150 goals in 3 seasons, hes epic on my game I just finished a season and finished 5th in Prem. Looking forward to a bit of Europa League!

Ahhh, Lunden and Bakircioglu.
Bought them both in a classic game where I started as Celtic manager.
I did well over 100 seasons on that game, leaving the computer on overnight while 'on holiday' (within the game).
Had an amazing Arsenal side that won at least two trophies every season. I forget the names of the best players now. Wish I could revisit that game!
