Anyone joining me at Glasto this year?
Also is it acceptable to wear a footy shirt.? Whenever i see people in them i think idiots but the two times i've seen a fellow U i've never been more delighted.
Incidentally one year i ra over and jumped on this guys back who was in Amber and Black stripes only to find out he was a Hull fan.

Hi Ed - have a great time, should be a good Glastonbury by all accounts. Please DO NOT wear your CUFC shirt though - the weather forecast is shocking and you might get it all covered in mud. That is of course, blasphemy!

I was looking at the line up and it seems a little bit underwhelming. U2 might be ok, Coldplay will be sort of dull and Beyonce wouldn`t have interested me at all. I think the other stage will have a huge crowd for Queens Of The Stone Age while she is on. Having said that, as soon as I start watching it on tv I know I will start feeling `Glasto-envy` and really wish I was there!

I thought the same. I don't think I'd ever really be keen on going though. Couldn't stand the camping and a lot of the people. Have a lovely time! And I'd say, wear a U's shirt, rather that than some grubby kaftan.

just back today - did a ten day stint working for the on site festival radio Worthy FM - did have a United shirt with me but didn't wear it out and about, was mainly based at the studios and didn't see many bands but Morrissey, Primal Scream and erm The Wombles rocked!

Del - out of interest, who 'does' Worthy FM? I only ask as there was a massive range in its quality - some features were really good and useful, but some of the presenters were amateur, at some times bordering on the rude.
Generally thought Glasto was good as always, but not a classic year. The weather affected the atmosphere on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday was great.

It's run by people who are involved in Bristol Community Radio and are ex BBC, I agree about your comments regarding features, it does vary in quality at times, there were quite a few students doing it this year. It's nigh on impossible to get the output right all the time as I'm sure you understand it's quite tough thrusting just over 30 people in a muddy field - all unpaid volunteers - with often failing equipment and it's a bit chaotic at times! Often you end up doing things you've never done before... e.g. I was reading news and had never read and compiled news in my life!!!
Always good to get some feedback so cheers for that!

Although I didn`t think much of what I saw of the Pyramid headliners (on tv), some of the other stuff I saw was excellent. The BBC coverage, including red button stuff is brilliant. Really enjoyed Eels, Kaiser Chiefs and Queens Of The Stone Age on Sunday night. Ceelo Green was good, Vaccines were excellent and quite enjoyed Janelle Monae, who I hadn`t even heard of before. I am off to Hyde Park on Sunday for Pulp at Wireless. Really looking forward to it, but the rest of the line up is pretty weak. Second on the bill......Grace Jones!!

I had a hunch it might have had student radio ties. The bits I was thinking of in particular was periods of silence while things were being checked, and at one point an artist (can't remember who it was) being interupted by a radio being left on by her mic! Generally though, as I said, it is a great resource and definitely the only thing to listen to on a wind-up radio in a field. I'm sure the facilities aren't exactly ideal either, so good job.
Now I'm just looking forward to June 2013!

Now I'm just looking forward to June 2013! Thanks for the nice words. Good feedback there and it's always to good to get some from folk listening. It's quite a challenge operating a 24 hour radio station from a field in Somerset. Equipment keeps breaking down and power cuts happen frequently! To put things in prospective the BBC take 380 staff (ok they're covering TV as well) all paid whilst Worthy FM is staffed by a hardy bunch of 32 volunteers! I've sent a feedback e mail to the organizers and how things could be approved upon, its frustrating when the basics go wrong I know, this was my 3rd stint on Worthy and probably the best. Hope I'm back in 2013 as well, it's the only way I've ever done Glastonbury!

Good work on the radio Del1969!
Squibbon- the joy of Glasto (you didn't hint whether you'd ever been) is that if there is 100,000 people watching what is usually tripe on the Main stage there are a 100,000 people doing something else. There is literally something for everyone with over 50 stages. Yes its a middleclass festival but its also a working class festival, a goth festival, a grungers festival, a travllers festival, a indiekids festival, a ravers....you don't have to watch any musc and you will have a great time. I didn't bother with a Friday headliner this year and went to the clubs. Pulp at the Park Stage were something else....mind blowing. You will love Wireless.
Interesting Oli that you thought atmosphere wasn't so good on Saturday. I thought it was the best i'd experienced- with the rains stopping and sun coming out. I guess it depends where on site you are. But yes.....roll on 2013. It will be all the better for the year gap.
My highlights: Low Athem (Avalon), Janelle Monnet (West Holts), Pulp (Park), Orbital (Arcadia), Caibou (Park), Cherry Ghost (Oxylers), Dels (Stonebridge) and a rotten tomato fight in Shagri-la that was going brilliantly until a woman got hit in the windpipe and it all had to stop :-(

I have been three times, in 1997, 2003 and 2009, and each time I`ve tried to see something on as many stages as possible. Some of the best moments are when you catch someone you haven`t heard of and they just blow you away. However, I do like to see some of the major acts on the pyramid as well, and they didn`t do it for me this year (although if I had been there I wouldn`t have had to watch them!) I am hoping to go again in 2013, and after watching some of it with me, my 6 year old wants to go next time, so that will be interesting!

My moment of catching a band I'd not seen or heard of before was seeing The Go! Team at West Holts, well into them now! It's amazing just how much is at Glasto - not only the music but other avenues of the arts such as comedy, poetry, theatre and circus plus all the mad stuff like the greenfields! It is a bit corporate nowadays as you'd expect but has still managed to retain a lot of it's old charm and spirit.
