Watching the youtube clip of the Histon away goal always brings a smile to my face.........it reminds me of one of my top two or three magic moments in all the years watch the U`s.
I seem to remember there was quite a charged atmosphere at that game, and I think the goal was fairly late on, anyway.......
As the ball hit the net the place went bananas, I was in the seats and ran down to the front, leaning over the barrier clenched fist etc (the way you do), only to look up and see Hatswell is running straight towards me, arms outstretched, eyes bulging and yelling like a man possessed......... wallop, right into each others arms. Gleeson jumped on Hats` back, and someone jumped on mine and in seconds it was a steaming mass of sweaty bodies.......oh fantastic.
At the risk of making this sound even more homo-erotic, I remember shouting in Gleeson`s ear telling him how much I loved him, but a face full of salty sweat and my sexuality was no longer in question. I remember me and another guy had hold of Hats so tightly he couldn`t get away, (woo-hoo, it`s on tv, me in the brown jacket, scarf and grey hat) and the stewards had to prise us away, and recall just seconds afterwards my daughter yelling, ``Dad, you just got Hatswell booked!`` Great, great memories.
We`ve probably all got stand-out moments from watching the U`s, and maybe it`s the pain and misery of some of the dross that makes those moments just so special.
Anyway, forgive me those self-indulgent ramblings, and all the best Wayne.

One of the best signings the club has made in recent years.
Absolute BEAST of a defender.
I bloody love the guy.

Certainly should do. It's a shame there were so few people there for the pre-season friendly he was a guest at

He's no Mark Peters. The Rhino could kill Hats with a single round house kick to the head!

He's not always had the best of games when playing against his old clubs - so hopefully that trend will continue when we go to Newport!

Not sure he'll play, they play summer football in Ireland so he's joined off the back of the closed season and may not be fit yet. Wasn't even on the bench today

Hatswell is amazing, 4 of us went to Ireland in the summer and caught a game he played in...so he spoke to us before the game and after the game, proper friendly and signed stuff, had photos, you know.
not only that, one of us had her camera stolen by a Dundalk fan (the team Hats played for) so Hats proceeded to speak out about it on the website and appeal to the fan to give it back, buy Emily a new camera worth more than the one she had stolen, send her a signed shirt, and some food vouchers for places in Cambridge. Leg-end.
however, I think the move to Newport is as much to do with coaching as playing, so he may not be turning out too much, perhaps only as cover, while he continues to coach and that
