Had Neil's perfectly good goal at Ayresome Park against Middlesbrough stood, we'd have won 2-1 there and gone up that season. Still gutted.

The premier league wasn't built for the likes of us. I bet there were a few people in football shuddering at the thought of a club like United gatecrashing the Premier League so it was probably all a conspiracy to keep us down.
It still makes me incredibly proud that we were one of the most talked about clubs in the country at the time.

I climbed up on the dividing fence celebrating that 'goal' goading the boro supporters.
I have to say their 'wanker' gestures were quality as I climbed down sheepishly.

Poor chap is pining for us. You can't get much more like Cambridge without being in Cambridge. Cambridge is much much better of course.

He'll score a ton in that division, he got 11 in 33 in the league above so he'll easily bag 20 with a full season.
May have to adopt Oxford as a second team now...

John Ruddy to Chelsea for a fee in excess of £5M allegedly! Pity we don't still have a sell on interest in him!

Maybe we do - we would have received a cut of the fee when Norwich paid Everton for him (assuming there was a sell-on). In which case we should receive a proportion of the fee if Everton then insisted on a sell-on clause.

Can anyone at the club confirm whether we would be entitled to a sell-on fee if Ruddy moves?
Also, how do such things work when deals are structured to include a variety of clauses?
For example, Chelsea might pay £2million up front, another £1million when he makes 10 appearances, another £1million if they win the title, another £1million when he keeps his first 10 clean sheets etc.
If we had a %5 sell-on, would we get a cut of each fee, or just the up front one?

It all depends on the structure of the Everton -> Norwich sale; if that has a sell-on clause then we could be in line for a percentage of a percentage, which could be on none, some or all of the sale payments. The club likely won't know until the contract terms are registered at the FA, and even then it might take a while.

Is it possible for a selling club to ensure that they will retain a 'stake' in the player for all future transfers?
i.e. in our negotiations with Everton, we stipulated that, not only do we get %5 when they sell him, but that they should also ensure we are entitled to %5 when he moves on from his next club? Meaning when they sold JR to Norwich, part of the deal included a payment to CUFC when he leaves Norwich.
