Is it possible for a selling club to ensure that they will retain a 'stake' in the player for all future transfers? i.e. in our negotiations with Everton, we stipulated that, not only do we get %5 when they sell him, but that they should also ensure we are entitled to %5 when he moves on from his next club? Meaning when they sold JR to Norwich, part of the deal included a payment to CUFC when he leaves Norwich. I think this is how it works. Say we negotiate 10% with Everton. We get 10% of the transfer fee once he moves to Norwich. If Everton negotiate a 10% sell on with Norwich we also get 10% of that, so 1% should he move on again.

It is possible for deals like this to be negotiated, but my understanding is that rolling clauses like this are uncommon. I'd be surprised if we'd negotiated such a clause with Everton; straight-up '10% of the next transfer fee' clauses are more common.

The chairman at the time was Harwood...I'm surprised we got what we did for him.

Actually unless he's going to be first choice then I hope he tells Chelsea to sod off. He's WAY too good to play second fiddle to Cech.

He wouldn't replace Cech immediately - more one for the future if he went there - which wouldn't satisfy his career aspirations I am sure, being an England squad keeper last season. He wouldn't want to drop out of that environment, which is exactly what would happen if he wasn't playing first team football.

Courtois is their one for the future, he's not much younger than Ruddy and has spent the last couple of years impressing while on loan at Athletico

But he's not british. According to The Sun - "Another attraction for Mourinho is Ruddy is a home-grown player. Premier League rules state clubs must include eight in a squad of 25, something Chelsea struggle with."

Why would he go there anyway?
Granted his pay would jump up, but he wouldn't get much game time.

If Chelsea offer Norwich enough it won't be Ruddy's choice.

Eh? He would still be entitled to reject personal terms.

Overheard a convo with Gleeson & Coulson at a charity game in histon a year or two back saying he's only on something like 4k a week at norwich so i'm guessing if he went to chelsea he'd at least treble that

But Norwich had only just been promoted two years ago. He would have had a substantial increase in the Premier League.
