With the January transfer window wide open and with reported interest in a few of Cambridge United's players, including Josh Coulson - who's been playing well, I was wondering if anyone had any news or updates they could share on Blaine Hudson, with how he's recovering from his car crash late last year?

Was wondering the same myself. No time scale was put on his recovery when the crash happened. I seem to recall in the last physio update he was said to be progressing well but again no time scale mentioned.

Someone told me recently that Bludson was very close to returning but since I can't remember who told me I don't know how much credence there was to the statement.
If Saah is staying in midfield then it will be quite interesting to see how Ling replaces Our Josh (if he goes). I'd hope we pick from Roberts/Rory/Blud rather than look to bring someone in.

Blaine would be a good replacement for Josh. Tall, can head the ball and is aware of what's around him.
I just don't think anyone will be after Coulson until the summer. That's normally when young defenders swap hands. Strikers have a tendancy to go in Jan because they may be needed by a team to boost attacking options.

From what I've seen of Blaine he has a very bright future ahead of him. If/when Josh goes I'd like to see him promoted in the pecking order rather than someone signed ahead of him. Really think he could go far

Agreed, even if Josh goes we've still got 5 players who can play centre back - Saah, Partridge, Hudson, Roberts and McAuley. No need to get another one.

Liam Hughes can also play there & we might start seeing Alex Bevan in & around the squad too...

I don't think Ling has the money to get another CB anyway.
The obv option would be to see Saah slot back in alongside Partridge and McAuley in CM.
Hughes could also be pushed forward into CB.
Our youth has talent and promise!

I think I'm right in saying Blaine's back in training. I imagine he'll get some games for CRC before being considered for contention for the first team squad. I spoke to him at a CRC game before Christmas and his goal at that time was to be playing football by the end of January. That was a little while ago so the timescale may have changed since then. He's a real prospect.

Yes our youth has talent and promise and Mr. Ling has used the first half of the season giving the younger players first team opportunities. We've seen mixed success as they try to develop from Ridgeons league to Conference level but it takes time to gain experience and develop physically. Now is the time to go with experience to see if we can go on a run and get up the table. When we are safe from the drop and no longer have any hope of the playoffs would be the time to think about giving some others some first team experience. I'm thinking Maz, Bludson, Ivesy, Hughes, JP, Jon Thorpe, and maybe some others but it's difficult to see how we can give them all a go. We could do with a reserve team but can't afford it.

What are CRC then?

Players don't need to grow into the physicality of the Conference if they've been nurtered on the Ridgeons League, they're far more likely to get a good clattering at that level than at that of the first team.

OK so why is it when they first come into the first team they play 5 or 6 games tops then appear totally knackered? Why has it taken Robbie and Josh over 2 years to progress from CRC stars to first team stars? It sure ain't a lack of ability.

"We could do with a reserve team but can't afford it." What are CRC then? An under 21 team. A place where the younger players can develop to a higher standard than in a traditional youth league. It's not a place where young players can play games alongside seasoned pros who are currently out of the first team for some reason It's not a place where playesr recovering from injury can get a run out to help them get .match fit.
