Cost-cutting. Scunthorpe's wage bill for that level is absolutely ginormous. Obviously being a 2CW of a club in that league, it was an absolute scandal and travesty Scunny didn't win that division by 20 points. They had the biggest budget that league has ever seen, and they'd actually recruited some extremely good players. For instance, ONE of their players was earning more in a week than Farsley Celtic's whole team. Craziness. They might be in for a few year stay akin to York and Stockport reading their last statement. Out of interest, what sort of wage bill does a club like Farsley have? £200 each/week perhaps? My son’s Head of Games at School is a Conference ref at weekends - he is astounded at what some clubs are paying at that level and particularly below.

Will there be a vacancy at Old Trafford tomorrow or will they stagger on to the seasons end to get hammered by their city rivals in the cup final.

It's a bit disrespectful, yeah. He's one of their most successful ever managers so to be treated like that stinks a bit. Andrew And they hate him, it's the West Ham way! You'd hate someone that read the Bible to you at half-time.

The highest paid player will likely be on £150pw if they're lucky, and I know one of the lads mentioned he was on less than £100! They all have 'proper' jobs so it's not a too bad top up for doing something you love ultimately. But yeah, some of the money being thrown about at lower levels is unsustainable and crazy, hence why there's a handful of teams folding/going into admin every season.

There’s budgets of £10,000 a week at Step 3 these days.
Players are signing contracts at Step 4 too.
Thing is it’s not what is on the books it’s the money in envelopes after matches & other things on offer like car insurance, mobile phone contracts or holidays that will convince players to sign.
Or they’ll reject a contract for more money & goal bonuses instead then in 6 months when another club has a sniff of going up they’ll move there instead on even more £.
Then it goes to shite. Coggeshall Town will be back at Step 6 next year, lowest on the Semi-Pro pyramid a few years after Olly Murs was backing them to several consecutive promotions.
Stowmarket Town smashed Step 5 & were it not for covid would have gone up again but are now penniless & didn’t win a match all season.
Vess will tell you about similar clubs up North I’m sure, but it won’t change.
Thankfully entitled moneybags Bury & Macclesfield both failed in play-offs over the weekend & several smaller clubs have secured promotions across the pyramid so it’s not all too grim.

Below Step 4 also - there is a player local to me at Step 7, who was scoring goals for fun having dropped a level or two and was promptly put on a contract by his club. Crazy, because he dropped below his 'natural level' to become a playground bully and big fish.

I make that the 19th managerial change in the Championship this season (35th, I think, if you include caretakers)
Birmingham with the most - Eustace, Rooney, Mowbray, Spooner and Rowett.
Edit - 13 in league 1 or 26 including caretakers)

Given they did everything they could to get promoted four times and got relegated anyway, I'm amazed at how much faith these fans have. Of course, the first people to stick their heads above the parapet in this way are usually slightly more eccentric than most, so I assume they're not entirely reflective.

Even worse than that, I've seen a few cite Ipswich, Norwich and Sheffield United as teams that have had double promotions as if that's their godly right.
I'd imagine they have enough money to get everything wrong and still get in the playoffs without too much bother but who knows. Their owner(s) do seem like colossal bellends so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they have an underwhelming season and stay here for a couple of years.

Nah Rosenior was well backed in January had a stacked squad & didn’t make play offs ahead of pretty poor Albion & Norwich sides. There’s loads of sackings that are unfair but I don’t think that one is too harsh.

Basket case of an owner, got the job when the first choice changed his mind. Team played decent football, he was popular with the fans and the players. On the shortlist of 3 for championship manager of the year. Not harsh at all !!

Now they'll bring in someone else and be mid table next season, with the cost of paying off a manager who signed a three year deal only a few months ago. I'm not saying all clubs who sack managers shortly after giving them 3 year deals are basket cases...
