13,000 places, gobbled up in less than 24 hours. (Cambridge Half Marathon) World's gone mad.

The Cambridge Half sold out in exceptionally quick time and I didn’t get a place. If anyone happens to know of anyone who got in but now isn’t planning to do it, let me know! The Cambridge Half is brilliant, but I didn't even try for a place this year as I wasn't sure if I would be free at the time. Instead I've entered the Edinburgh Half along with my son-in-law - he did the full marathon in pouring rain last year and found it too much, so he's gone for the half this time. This one has the advantage that it's at the end of May, so you don't need to train through the dark Winter months like you do with Cambridge.

Well whatdyaknow - Edinburgh is the main goal race for my training group! Some doing the half, some the full (I’m undecided).

Well I had a great weekend running last week with two new PBs. Bug Hunter Waters parkrun, fast course on tarmac and compressed gravel track I almost did my first sub 20 minute 5k, coming in 20 minutes flat. Followed this up with 41 mins,58 seconds in the 10k Bonfire burn the next day. Not bad for a 57 year old! Just being injury free for several months now shows that whatever your age you can still build up your fitness.

Excellent work and two quality times regardless of age, although they’ll definitely rank well on age grading. I’ve almost certainly mentioned it (probably more than once!) but my first sub-20 5k remains one of my favourite running milestones. It wasn’t even an official time, just based on a probably inaccurate GPS measurement around the streets of Brough.
I recently won my first 10km road race and the 1mile and 3,000m club track championships for City of Hull so I’m gona say I’m well and truly over my injury and the related setback in overall fitness. Unfortunately I’m missing the main goal 10k race at Donny for a social event, so I won’t get to challenge my PB until the new year probs.
Looking at doing York parkrun tomorrow but feel a little under the weather so will just have to see how that goes. It is by all accounts a fast course, if the wind is kind/absent.

15:38 that is mighty impressive. Well done.
I cycled up to Huntingdon along the guided busway and did the park run at Hinchingbrooke Country Park. Not a fast course through wooded trails and slippery rutted paths so pleased to do 20:44. I went off too fast at the start and found myself 4th after 2km and thinking I shouldn’t be this far up the field.
Unfortunately after I then took the train up to peterborough for the match which got me thinking if anyone else has got in to Park run tourism and tied it in with watching Cambridge away? A couple of years ago I went to the Plymouth game and tied it in with the Central Park Run there next to the ground.

There's a whole group of England fans who do one in every country they visit for away games
