So what we thinking, give Jimmy a rest? Get Ollie Stone in? Are we happy with Stokes at Number 3, is that really a long term option? Is it really that much different at 3 or 4, Joe? Come on, man up and get in behind the openers. Does Bairstow return? Curran’s injured and suspect they won’t risk him.

So Bairstow at 3, it will be Imp come the Ashes! And sulky Broad gets back in for Jimmy.
3-0?

Usual pretty rubbish start. Great recovery and then Root’s “conversion syndrome” of sorts kicks in. Looks very sweaty there.

Not a classic no3 in my mind, far to lively. Interesting choice. Hope it works as he is a confident player, we could do with some quick runs at the top.

The end of that innings this morning feels a little like the rest of it yesterday.......bit of a missed opportunity. But in the context of the Sri Lankan batting line up, probably ample.

Has a thread ever been so self-posted?!
So from a decent position Sri Lanka collapse. Then so do England but good old Stokes and Buttler to the rescue. Frankly I can’t see SL chasing down more than 200 so this should be wrapped up. He says just as Stokes gets himself out and then is reprieved by a no ball.

Coverage on talk sport 2 is horrible.
The only decent person is Mark Nicolas.

Yes, I hear much opposition since TMS lost that deal. Not a great radio person myself where sport is concerned. I must say the Sky coverage even between 4:30 and 6:30 in the morning is hijacked by gambling adverts at every turn. If I had a quid for every time I wanted to punch the face of Ray Winston, Jeff Stelling ......and if the fun stops stop! The hypocrisy on Sky’s part is jaw-dropping.

3-0 away to England! For once very little to moan about and a job well done!
