Not happy with them at the moment. They have sent me a renewal reminder Saying that my renewal date is the 27th(26 days time)yet my licence says that I have still got 46 days. I phoned them up complaining but they still say my renewal is 27th.
So I told them to cancel my automatic renewal. Minutes later I had an e-mail offering £10 off. In the past they have offered a good price if you renew now, the problem is they then take your renewal date from when you pay for the renewal losing days of off your existing licence. I am thinking of changing to someone else. I have studied various top ten , but not all top ten's read alike although Bitdefender seems to come out quite favourably.
Any suggestions ?

I would leave kapersky, they have been linked to Russian security services passing their customers data.

Why wouldn't Macs need anti virus software? It's a fact that Mac is better at security than Windows is, but it all depends on the user and whatever he or she downloads.
I don't know anything about this link with the Russians, but I do know a couple of computer geeks and they like Kaspersky a lot. But these two chaps also say that one of the biggest reasons for choosing one AS over another is by how much it slows down your pc/laptop when it's running in the background. In my case, I got rid of Kaspersky as it slowed down my pc too much. I'm now running Avast (same thing as AVG nowadays)and I'm happy with it.
Ps - I wouldn't read too much into all those top 10 lists tbh, unless they run the AS suites on multiple laptops. Also be aware that some of the lists are actually fake and recommend relatively recent and highly suspicious AV software packages, some of which do not even offer any support whatsoever.
If I were you I'd stick with Kaspersky, though I don't like that bit about forfeiting 40 something days that you're still entitled to.

Now that windows comes with built in Essentials/Defender, are all these fancy security add ons really worth splashing out for these days for home computing or just a con?

Thanks Vanni I am now in a dilema as to what to do, but yes my computer repair man that is now retiring recommended Kaspersky to me. I have been happy with it, but I am quite annoyed that they are trying to do me out of licence time .
