Again, this was happening under Obama as well, so don't see that all the blame can be given to Trump. Well over 200 people were killed in mass shootings under Obama's term of office, I wonder how many of those were race related. Personally I think somersetewe is spot on: " it doesn't matter who is in charge (and I am no Trump supporter), it is the inability to see the link between gun ownership and the level of killings". If you think about all the knife crime we have in England now, and then think what would happen if the perpetrators all had guns instead, then I have no doubt that we would have plenty of mass shootings. I don't think anyone has placed "all" the blame on Trump. But given that he launched a political career on a racist lie (birtherism), then ran for President by calling Mexicans rapists, then as President spoke repeatedly in terms of Latin American "invasion" of the US, it's hardly a stretch to suggest that he might shoulder *some* of the blame for a shooting targeting Latin Americans by a white nationalist, is it? Let's also not forget that if Trump's party agreed to stronger gun laws they could be passed tomorrow. lennypack. Awful footballer, ridiculously short neck, sound social commentator.

I lived in LA in the 80’s for a while in my early/mid 20’s. I went because I believed it was the land of opportunity and everything that glittered appeared to be gold. To be fair I loved every second and it worked out well. Thirty years on I’m still not sure if I was simply blinded by the naivety of youth, or if things have deteriorated in that time.
One thing is for sure, if that f*cked-up cesspit is still seen by anyone as the pinnacle of western culture and the finest manifestation of capitalism then we really have got problems.

Few articles floating around that the NRA might start to lose some of their power as their revenues are down quite considerably. Throw in that the Democrats now have 'power' in the House and there are murmurings that something might finally happen gun law wise. That said it will be something ridiculous like banning those chambers that hold hundreds of bullets so it will barely change anything. Just looking on Social Media at the amount of gun nuts that think if everyone had guns there would be less mass shootings as people would fire back. That's worked well so far hasn't it! Most run scared rather than shoot back. It's absolutely crazy and I am glad I live in a Country which bans guns. We may have a knife problem but that is nothing compared to guns, not to mention our knife crimes seem to be almost exclusively in certain parts of the country only.

"....something might finally happen gun law wise." Don't hold your breath. In February the Democrat-controlled Congress passed the first piece of gun control legislation in over 25 years ; the Republican-controlled House of Representatives refuses to even debate it and even if by some miracle it was passed Trump has promised to use his Presidential veto to kill it stone dead. "I will never ever infringe on the right of the people to keep and bear arms - NEVER. EVER." Donald Trump in a speech to the NRA National Convention in 2017. At a rally only two months ago Trump wondered out loud how to deal with undocumented migrants. One of his supporters yelled out "Shoot them!". Trump laughed.

Again, there have been racist shootings long before Trump took over. Not too sure he wouldn't of done it if Hillary had won the last election. Was the Dayton shooter also a white supremacist? The Dayton killer pledged his support for socialism and Antifa and Elizabeth Warren.

The Dayton killer pledged his support for socialism and Antifa and Elizabeth Warren. And when has Elizabeth Warren encouraged violence in the way Trump has? Or prevented gun control legislation going forward like Trump has?

The Dayton murderer also "liked" the Christchurch massacre and the El Paso shootings - not exactly the actions of a committed lefty. Police in Ohio have already stated that there was no racial or political motive behind his crime. No doubt this will be lost on Trump (if he can even be bothered to get the location of the massacre right) as he will seize on any excuse to ignore the herd of elephants in the room. A sobering set of stats to digest. Of all the murders committed in the US in 2018 and designated by the police to have been carried out by "extremists" 78% were committed by white nationalists - 2% were committed by Islamic extremists........and 0% by anti-fascist extremists. What are the chances that Trump or his cronies do ANYTHING meaningful? About the same chance as Azeez topping the League 2 goalscoring table........... Edit - as if to prove my point Trump has already identified the REAL problem - violent video games. What a "very stable genius".
