I'm disappointed I can no longer win a cream tea on the Golden Gamble. I suppose I'll have to make do with a coffee and Twix at Shepreth Wildlife park.

That might be the finest first post I've ever seen on this forum. Have yourself a like.
Speaking, very loosely, of the tannoy. It was absolutely hopeless in the Habbin on Saturday...I completely missed the relevance of the spontaneous burst of applause after 11 minutes as a result.

Andrew The tannoy is still inaudible in the Habbin yes, but in fairness to the club they did spread the word about the 11th minute applause on all social media channels fairly extensively in the days leading up to the game. You did well to miss it.

Ah, fair enough. If it's not on here I probably will miss it to be fair. I've never quite managed to work social media out.

Didn’t they say during the week that the tannoy issues had been fixed?

Didn’t they say during the week that the tannoy issues had been fixed? Maybe this explains the mystery of Mr Lucas to the wicket gate. It sounded fine in the Main Stand so maybe had technical issues with other areas so made the announcements to test the sound.

I don't think I've read a programme since my dad stopped buying them for me in 1992 (don't hold me to that, it may have been 1991)
Fair play to United though because the message got out to most people and it was well observed, I looked over at the Newpot fans and they were joining in too.

Luckily a man walked around the ground carrying a sign showing the winning numbers. You can't hear anything in The Habbin. I never won the cream tea, but I did get a video many years ago. Shepreth is well worth a visit.

Maybe the same guy with the board could walk round during the match with random instructions...clap, boo , bounce, check your phone etc

Well it's not been fixed all the time I've been coming and that's 50 years now, so I doubt i will live long enough to hear all the announcments in a match if I continue to choose the Habbin. What was the 11 min thing about anyway? In fairness the speaker were changed when the Mainstand units were updated about ten years ago. The old mainstand unts were transplanted to the Habbin. SO it;s actually quite good compared to how it was, say 20 years back!

The 11th minute applause was for the poor 11 year old kid who died of a brain tumour in May.
