Lovely debut goal for Yearn. Patient possession around the box with an assist and a goal from two youngsters. Perfect way to finish the match.

The youngsters were all excellent. Bennett was outstanding. Unlucky not to score and created some great chances. Worman great shift and can actually put a decent cross in. Yearns with some great touches and a good finish, unlucky not to get a couple more. Jobe looked pretty comfortable all game. All good prospects for the future.
A good all round performance and could have won by a lot more.

Didn’t watch the game but isn’t it nice seeing rave reviews of youngsters?
Really excited that Yearn got a chance to play, glad he took it so well. Encouraging performances from Bennett and Jobe too by the sound of it. Both looked good in pre season. Bennett looks a little small and slight so probably has a way to go physically, but sounds like there’s a player there.
Worman less of a kid than the others but sounds like a real set piece specialist. Looks like he may well get some first team minutes this year.
It’s a tough one for Bonner to manage. Have to ensure the players have a pathway while not leaving us light on senior quality. He’s the best man for the job though, I trust he’ll handle it well.
Just really encouraging times to be a U’s fan, eh? Competence from the top and lots to be pleased about on the pitch. Long may it continue.

Lankester and Bennett, were vv impressive, great to to Smith scoring as well.
Knibbs v poor....as he was Saturday.

Assume this makes Yearn our youngest-ever first-team appearance-maker? Or did he actually come on last season? I can't remember but I don't think he actually got off the bench did he? Wouldn't count it personally in this farce of a reserve competition. |

At present he’s not good enough, but with a good run playing I think he would develop quickly, but he’s never had that with us and I can’t see him getting it at present either.

I despise the format of the competition but I'm still happy for the players getting their chance tonight and chuffed to see a 16 year old score for us. It's probably the only positive to come out of it. |
