Wouldn't count it personally in this farce of a reserve competition. Well regardless of our opinions, it does count. I despise the format of the competition but I'm still happy for the players getting their chance tonight and chuffed to see a 16 year old score for us. It's probably the only positive to come out of it. Players get vital minutes, kids get huge experience and we get £10,000 for the win but Yes let’s just bin it off is very narrow minded.

1,390 attendance - with 1,257 Cambridge fans - is shockingly high. What’s going on? People enjoying going to see live football again?

I don't want to bin it off. I quite liked the tournament and used to always attend them before the B team rubbish. The current format without the B team would be a very fun tournament, but at the moment it's just a warning to what the league could be like in 10 or 20 years.

Aye, that's the positive I was on about. Not keen on the bribe money though.

I don't mind the competition but everyone is entitled to their opinion. The most valuable thing is blooding youngsters and giving valuable minutes to those who arent in league matchday team.

Many on here said when we played Pish in the competition that it didn't count, if it didn't count then it doesn't count now.

Can't wait for the highlights as it sounded great to listen to.
Made me think do we really need to dip into the loan market when we've got such quality youth backup? That's what they're in the professional squad for anyway!
Silly competition but sounds like we (and Oxford) took it relatively seriously, which is good news that we came out on top. We might need to buy another trophy cabinet at this rate!

Knibbs has been very poor. Knibbs is always poor, we need to upgrade Knibbs is not a footballer - he can just run fast - was hoping he would go on loan somewhere today

One of my best memories supporting Cambridge is going all the way to Bristol on a very rainy Tuesday night in a season in which we had no away wins at all to see Armand One propel us into our first ever Cup Final against all the odds. Trip to the Millennium Stadium to watch Cambridge play in such a poor league season a great memory too despite the second half of the game. The Cheltenham game on the way to the final not so much… They’ve ruined the competition - plenty of encouragement for the Premier League’s plan for B team league entries if fans are now accepting this as fine in the lower league’s cup competition

Well, I figured if I was going to pay to stream it, I may as well pay to go and watch it, after all what is the difference?
I’m chuffed I decided to go and watch our youthful side play some lovely stuff and rather enjoyed the Main Stand as a change from the Habbin.
An attendance of 1,400 plus however many streamed it - must be a similar attendance to the league cup game.
Great evening of football with some fine young players on show.

If you think this is the major threat to our pyramid system then you are looking in the wrong place.
Very enjoyable game this evening. Great to see so many kids coming through the ranks, hugely important minutes for weir, may and lankester, plus smith and knibbs grabbing goals.
Keeps the momentum rolling nicely.
Surprised no one coming in though. We do seem very light in a couple of areas. Pray nothing happens to Ironside!

"Assume this makes Yearn our youngest-ever first-team appearance-maker? Or did he actually come on last season? I can't remember but I don't think he actually got off the bench did he?"
Sinton was 16 years 228 days when he made his debut. Yearn is 16 years and 82 days. Sinton scored his first goal at 17 years 7 days.
Not sure if this has been posted yet but there'll not a dry eye in the house. Guaranteed.
I'm boycotting for obvious reasons, but fully appreciative of what it means to be able to play some fringe players, youngsters and nurse one or two back to fitness...with that in mind it really couldn't have gone much better. I can't be happier.
