At Christmas I moved from Greece to Ireland with my wife and two children. My wife is Irish and had been finding it difficult living away from family when looking after our baby daughter. I was happy to stay in Greece and had a secure job I was hoping to progress in but as she was so unhappy felt I couldn't stand in her way. So here we are, in a cottage by the sea in East Cork. Anyway, we both looked for work, she found a job and I didn't/haven't so instead I've been caring for our baby (and older boy when he finishes school). It has only been a month and a half but it has been the best job I've ever had. Financially miserable obviously but at the moment I wouldn't change it. I would always have thought I'd need to work just for my own sanity but I now find myself looking back and seeing how stressed I was. Clearly, it can't go on forever because we have no savings, are renting and surviving on one average wage but for the time being I am so glad to be able to spend the time with my family, giving me a purpose I don't think I had before.
So wondering if there are any other stay-at-home parents with experiences to share?

I think that it is marvelous that you are staying home and taking care of your daughter. Your wife is fortunate to have you ad a husband and your daughter is lucky to have a wonderful and caring daddy. You definitely have a full time job!

I've just retired at 55 and every morning at 6:30 I see off my missus and two kids(23 and 20) to their respective work. I suppose that's different isn't it? 😅 rest assured though, men do not need to work.
