Anyone live in and around Bishop Stortford? Looking for genuine info on the town/local area. Nice place to live? Good pubs restaurants pre covid times. Rough areas? Druggies/chavsEtc etc. Moving back northward from kent possibly and one of the places we have marked on the map.

Firstly - and this is of paramount importance if we're going to get on - it's Bishop's Stortford.
Yeah, it's fine. Decent transport links, some really good schools (though slightly ruined when they let me in to work at them) and a football club who are letting fans in and allow them to drink on the terrace.
Every single road appears to be dug up every f@cking week.
What part are you planning to live in? You're welcome to message me.

Firstly I do apologise speling and gramar was never my strong point! Thanks for the reply hersey. First tentative steps to be honest as far as moving house.Im from Cambridge originally and looking to move nearer to family and beloved Abbey but still be close enough for work down south. Bishop's Stortford came up in the circle we drew on the map. Looking for a 2 bedroom period type house. Any recommendations on areas be good thank you.

There's a huge amount of new-build (which is probably why at least on the three main routes out of town is "always" closed) and I imagine it's a good time to buy. The older houses are generally nearer the station and more expensive. Though the schools, transport links and airport (you'll see a lot of airline staff at bus stops) means nothing cheap. There's a couple of rough area, but they're only rough in comparison to the rest. Thorley might be your best area to start looking. And not just because I'm here
