I did! Come on Sheff, just clock my avatar. What a dope I am Nuts!! Used The Rock mid to late eighties. Nan lived on Neville Road. Big lad used to have it, West ham fan. Steve. Strangely no Sweet or Rubettes on the jukebox. Yes, Steve Cundy, from Southend but a big Iron as you say. No longer with us and predeceased by the missus. Kids and grandkids still around.

Hey Sheff I have connections to both Cambridge and Sheffield I live in Cherry Hinton and until I took early retirement worked in Milton My daughter spent 3 years at the uni of Sheffield so got to know the city fairly well, she had digs in Holberry Close and Harrow Street where in Sheffield do you live ? Renshaw Road Scoots. First house that the mrs and I purchased was at the bottom of Club Garden Road. Two minutes from Harrow street. Club Garden Road was rough. Very rough. I liked Hanging Water road in Fulwood nice walk to Forge Dam at the end of it

Presumably Rock regulars by the age of 11? Nope. It was all about The Sweet, The Rubettes & the first album that I got into, even aged 11, Cockney Rebel's Psychomodo whilst in Cambridge. . Ha, the Rubettes, that got me thinking - during lockdown I was in the man cave sorting stuff out wrestling with the angst as to whether all the old albums (amongst other stuff (memorabilia, idiosyncratic tat etc etc)) are really important and part of who you are, or just crap that is in fact meaningless and really just needs to be got shot of. The Covid-influenced re-evaluation means all (most of) that stuff is going, but couldn’t be bothered with eBay and the charity shops were closed so they still sit gathering dust - but they will get donated somewhere soon enough. If anyone knows which charity place is most likely to be interested in some musky old albums let me know. Anyway, back to the Rubettes.... I found this pair of shockers which might raise the odd reminiscent laugh 😀 I must’ve bought them when I was about 10, and last played them when I was 11. Why do you hold on to this stuff??? Old Morley, High school, and Rock boy here too! Lived on Cherryhinton Road, and played on Lichfield and Coleridgde recs. Cowper Road until moved to Cherry Hinton in early 80's. Lichfield Rec was excellent for an enclosed Cricket or Footy game but when I go back to the old City the Rec looks tiny now. Coleridge Rec when playing with the big boys later on Morley & Coleridge reform schools were a proper education in life My Dad (RIP) was a regular at both the Rock & The Rathmore Club in his earlier days before ill health put a stop to drinking Landlord Steve was a legend in the Rock Pub & his organised trips to England matches at the old Wembley were legendary for what I can remember about them with the sessions pre & post

Morley Memorial had a very U's like kit. Amber & black Arsenal style shirt. Black shorts. Amber & black hooped socks. I was number 3, Ray Seary. Loved that shirt. Barry Clarke, ex Cam City took training. When he started we were losing by record scores. 13-0, 11-2 etc. After a couple of months we were winning by those scores. He lived on the curve of Blinco Grove towards The Rock. His son, Martin, was a big mate of mine.

Having left the fair city 32 years ago all these places bring back such memories of a much simpler world. Left Morley in 1978 & played for the School footy team & can remember black & amber in the colours in some form but not as vivid as your memory. I can remember Some tough games against Priory & St Phillips back in the day

I must disappoint you chaps and reassure you Morley were YELLOW and black. Horrible. It's a bit like people waxing lyrical about our promotion kit in 1972/73 when we reverted back from the all white strip. That was nearer to daffodil than amber although people's memories get hazy.

I played against Morley a few times in my Colville days. Used to quite like your kit. Yellow shirts and black sleeves or the other way round IIRC.

I was unfortunately jinxed with green for St Philip's and green for Coleridge and it brought me diddly squat luck on the fields of Romsey Town.

For the first time since the old man's funeral last November. He was in Primrose Croft care home. All the staff there are magnificent! Felt a supreme feeling of being back home again. Managed to get to, allowing for c19, the Cambridge Blue, Geldart, Alex and Calverly's new taproom. Pubs, He loved pubs. The Earl of Derby 1970's-1980's was his local. Absolutely wonderful to meet up with family once again who are still in Cambridge. Painful to be in Cambridge and not be able to stand on the Habbin where the old bugger first took my brother and I to our first match. Around '71-'72. Barrow. Future trips to Cambridge just won't be the same again. CUFC FOREVER !!!! Lovely memories. For all it's faults, of which there are many, there's still no city in England that I'd rather reside in.

It was odd, curiously was called Romsey Rec and is still officially called that although the kids call it the "Vinery". In those days we played Brunswick, Romsey, Morley and the like with goalposts but no nets! And of course Romsey played on COLERIDGE rec...
