I know we aren’t at the same level but look at how West Ham have simplified their badge and worked the London link. I suspect that is something the club will look for. Whether we like it or not “Cambridge” as a city has value

Call us the Cambridge academics for all I care (nobody will use it) but the Dollar that it's worth would be well worth it. One of the most marketable cities in the world, we need to start tugging at that teet

I think we are missing the point here. The club are trying to get some big money sponsors on board and the image conscious organisations do not want to work alongside our badge which with all it’s history does look as though it won third prize in a Blue Peter competition. Should we change our badge for That? Not fussed really it is what we are able to do on the pitch next season that I am interested in. Companies don’t want to work alongside our badge? Get a grip. It’s not like it contains an enormous cock or something France have done pretty well with that Coq Sportiv approach. Clare college have a better united Badge than us. Thats a strong border that says strong defence. The two heraldic halves have to go of course. We are not Clare college. The amber pears (or whatever) should be amber balls. Eleven of them. I have already posted my 12 panel laced ball on cover of first book treatment on another thread. I do think reality checkpoint might convey Parkers Piece quite well. A centre or origin point for football. The crenelations seem out of place. Cambridge isn't a fortress it is a buccolic abbey with celery trenches and pop bottles.

I'd be open to adapting the current one. A new badge should include "United in Endeavour" in it somewhere, I'd also keep the bridge/turrets we have in the current one at the top. I strongly agree (as many surveys would put it) with the inclusion of the 'United In Endeavour' slogan instead of the words 'Cambridge United FC'. Either that or 'Jimmy'. I was surprised at how eye-catching the current badge is when displayed alongside our previous ones. It looks bold and clean due to it's simplicity. I was also pondering the shirt from the season before last and our links with Christianity. It's clear to me that there's a crucifix hidden in that design and if the club were to try something similar with the badge I'd be very disappointed- unless it was a historical nod to the old Abbey Church. I'm leaning towards a redesign of our current badge with 'United In Endeavour', as Rozza suggested, though. Edit- I'm not anti-Christian, I just thought that was a horrible shirt and it was a little bit sneaky.

A cleaner kit logo alongside the current logo like what Liverpool have done would be the best compromise. Like I've said previously, the lack of clear iconography will be the death of this venture as there's no real alternatives despite the existing one being adequate at best.

Is this a wind up!?[/quote] It is important that we are not branded as paladins or somesuch divisive faction Celtic and Rangers have enough trouble with sectarianism within christianity, without dragging in (or out) others of multi faith Britain. The old AngloSaxon arch with some zigzagging detail might be enough. That and the motto ribbon would be enough of a frame to the crest. The faith here is football. So not mecca, not jerusalem. Reality cheakpoint book ball dogtooth-arch motto-ribbon. We have a great steam engine name plate that would look good over a dogtooth round arch tunnel. The lamp and the book being the light. The ball being the express train headed for goal. The Ribbon being the silky smooth pitch. Can we make a gas light as drivers cab, book as funnel and ball as water tank look like a steam engine under a dogtoothed round arch and over the motto ribbon with a steam engine "Cambridge United" nameplate over the arch? The arch can be tunnel, doorway and bridge. Okay the frenzy has passed.

I like the simplicity of the current badge. Yes it's a bit word art-y, and yes my peers in sixth form art painted 'NT' on my mug every time I left the room, but it's not fussy or overburdened with symbolism.
A tidy up of the current one would do me: simpler ball, nicer font, better lettering, greater cohesion with the geometric bridge top & circle and ornate banner, and even if they're not actually the same size on the bridge I've always thought the three bits at the top should be the same size on our badge.

The owner of our club stated as much: "At the last meeting we sounded out thoughts on looking at the Club badge over the summer and whether it could be adapted or modernised, as this is consistent feedback we have received from potential sponsors in recent times." Whether we like it or not “Cambridge” as a city has value West Ham have gone from an iconic piece of very simple branding to something that looks like it was dome by a 10 year old on MS Paint. I really don't think they should be held up as an example here!

Just completed the excellent survey. Was that tongue in cheek as all it really asked is what CUFC means to me - a lot. And do I want the badge changed. It’s like asking if I want to change my car, yes if I can have/afford a Lambo, but no if it’s a 10 year old Ford Fiesta. Can’t see how this survey will canvas any realistic opinion either way.
