The proposed crest looks like our team is being crushed under the weight of a pile of paper and football bureaucracy. The team has never had anything to do with the university, so drop the books reference. Design a proper crest featuring football and other excellent Cambridge stuff: the Cam, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Hobson's Conduit, the Corn Exchange, etc. Yes, we have had little to do with the university, until recently (Clare college training ground). But, it's just purely from a marketing perspective to have some nod to the university as that's the reason why 99% of people in the world have heard of Cambridge. 'Cambridge' has some clout as a brand.

We should have a striped shield with Cambridge United above it and In Endeavour below it, and the 'supporters' each side should be the floodlights.
Sorted! 😁

Thanks, Father Hackett. I should have added both the Leper Chapel and the RC Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs to my list. PS. I was pleased to see Jim Norton (not as Bishop Brennan) in a YouTube video 'Armchair Thriller' recently.

Our crest: something based on the coat of arms of the City of Cambridge for the time being. If we're promoted, we can have a re-design. If we're relegated, it could be up to Wimpy.

Great map, Father, don’t let the Uni baxtads get any slice of our badge No, Sir! Those muckchop pigs at high table were awarded CONTROL of the Great Fair, its weights & measures legislation, as punishment to the town for the 1381 Peasants' Revolt. Let no lady nor bloke be in any doubt: the Universitry has always been the enemy of Barnwell.
The only good thing about the Bolton biblical deluge was the FACT that 250 students paying £5 got soaked to no useful end.

Stirbitch Fair & the Leper Chapel. We're across the fecking road from the most significant fair in Northern Europe for hundreds of years. Centre of the world! Abbey Utd even played on the common. It's so bleeding obvious what we should be commemorating, & it's not those overfed gowned baxtads to the west. Shin-kickers, stocks, vast cheese wheels, oysters, boxing, pure finders collecting dog excrement for the tanning factories, ironmongery, frenzied dance, rags, CABBAGES, books lewd & mathematical, animal menageries, whipping of rogues, theatre, shameful waxworks of naked women, fighting dwarves, bears, river-borne bordellos, coconuts, drink! drink! My dear ladies & gentlemen: it is time to claim our unique carousing inheritence & record this on our badge.
Always a confusing moment for a young lad when you think you're picking up a lewd/mathematical book but when you open it it's actually all mathematical/lewd fare. (delete as appropriate)

So, according to the Shadow Board minutes the new badge will be in place for the 2024/25 season. Not much time to force the new design through in order to get sorted for new merchandise, season ticket cards etc etc. Sounds like job done. Hope it’s a better effort this time and the new finance it will bring in becomes a reality.

The minutes say there will be a consultation. Ready by August, and cutting fine for Big Reveal of the new kit Also an update on the stadium redevelopment www.cambridge-united.co.uk/news/2024/april/shadow-board-meeting-minutes-cambridge-united-efl-english-football-league-april-2024/

Although it says the badge will be in place for next season, it might not actually be on the kit which I believe is already in manufacture

Wonder if it'll be a soft launch of sorts then and we'll only be using the badge in some areas. A fairly decent idea imo as it would allow a bit more time for fans to get used to and make a better decision on a new badge than just seeing a photo of it online + a few photoshop jobs. I think Aston Villa have done similar with their new badge, using it in parallel with their old one for this season. Obviously you'd want that design to be a good one, but I think no matter how good a new badge is it would take some getting used to.
