In truth the higher gates have been a legacy of our "double" winnning promotion season, as they pre-date the MU FA cup fixture.
Edit: although the 12 game ticket can't have hurt the long term nature of that increase. We should do more of that as I'm sure that the increase in season ticket sales was due to the G12 ticket.

The G12 ticket wasn't just a one off for the club though. I know 3 people who bought the G12 ticket last season and they all have season tickets this season.
Would be good to know how many of the G12 ticket sales converted to season tickets this season.

If they also put 600 of the attendance over the whole of last season down to half season tickets that suggests 1200 or so were sold. Gates this season have stayed similar to last year including the post Man U boost. Excellent progress. Not many years ago we were regularly getting crowds similar to the number of season tickets we have now. We can't stand still though. If we don't push forward towards promotion gates are likely to fall back in the next couple of years.

That was ideal for us part timers and I think it was a backwards step to get rid of them

It pained me to stop buying a season ticket when moving up to Nottingham in 2000. Since then I had always attended away games around the Midlands, as well as several home games each season. This was not sufficient but I learned to adapt. Then along came the 12 GT. I had been bitten and infected again. After getting back into a regular Abbey habit I had to buy a season ticket this year and resign myself to putting in the miles. It's just a shame we've largely been cack in the year or so I've been doing this!

Exeter City and York City had similar gates to us now when they came back into the football league. Perhaps the novelty of fourth division football eventually wears off.

Stopped buying a season ticket when I moved up to Manchester in 2000 and despite moving slightly closer to 'home' by moving to the Peak District a couple of years ago, I never felt I could commit to a season ticket. Your last paragraph hits the nail on the head exactly!! The miles are a killer for some of the performances we've been 'treated' to....

Not so - York got 3,879 in their first season back, finishing 17th (so about the same as us) - Exeter got 4,979 in their first season back, but then they were promoted to League 1 at the first attempt. We are doing substantially better than York at the same stage, and a little better than Exeter.

It would of been interesting to get a breakdown of what we made from the FA Cup run. The replay alone was reported in the media to have been worth around 1.7 million. I guess this figure most of been hugely inflated if the total for the entire cup run was less than 1.3 million. Was there any more detail on this point? what is being ignored about the cup run is the increased league crowds it generated. Some of the G12 money would've come it but not all of it. The two games that people had to buy tickets for to get a manure ticket cetainly wouldn't have attracted such big crowds. So to claim we'd have broken even without the Man U is a bit naive. But the figures ARE good and the fact that many of the glory hunters have stayed around can only be positive. Still waiting for shiny new toilets though It's not being ignored, it just hasn't happened the way you'd expect. Attendances were already going up, and despite turgid performances for the best part of a year, they carried on. We're averaging more this season than we did after the Man U games.
