Camloyal made an interesting observation in passing on a different thread about the demographic of this message board, suggesting it is 'narrow and older'.
So do you think that's a fair comment?
Noting that I don't know any of you, this is what it feels like to me:
100% white 90% + male 90% + aged over 40, and no teenagers Mainly middle class?
Does that sound about right? And is that ok?
Would the message board be more interesting with a more diverse demographic?
I think the answer is yes, but perhaps you go somewhere else for that, such as Facebook, which a white middle class older male like me hasn't got...

It’s a self selecting demographic.

I'm under 40, although the gap is closing at a worrying rate, and I'm definitely not middle class. I am white though, like Ben Affleck.

Probably 90% white cis-male heterosexual 30+, at least amongst the regular posters & also a reasonable political variety. I do like that there's prominent posters that fit outside that 90% voice though.

I would say that is very accurate and what I would have guessed at pretty much the same.
I'm moving into that demographic later this year as I hit middle age. Just curious though, when I hit 40 do I have to hand in my happy clapper card? And do I have to apply for the 'We're crap/going nowhere every time we lose' one or does that automatically happen?

"100% white 90% + male 90% + aged over 40, and no teenagers Mainly middle class?"
It's mostly white but not 100%. One or two on here have talked about their experiences of racism on the terraces before.
A reasonable mix of ages I think. Mid twenties are the youngest posters (I think?) with representation from all age groups upto Colin at 245...I always imagine Facebook as being for largely under 35's and weirdos so my assumption is that we have a wider age range than there(?)
I get the feeling most on here live outside of the City...and outside Cambridgeshire too. I wonder who lives closest and furthest from the ground?

Can agree with most of that, except the middle class bit. Where does that come from?

I've moved 29 times ( including where I grew up as a kid) and only once been more than 3 miles from the ground.
Also I don't see what age is all about, any age group is going to have its arm holes.
This is the quickest way to find out about CU ( since CEN stopped being a newspaper 20yrs ago)

A Cambridge working class is middle class in the rest of the country. I'm not saying we're better than everyone else, just different in a way that makes us better.

Col, 29 times? Can you not find the right house you are happy with? At least you have stuck with one team unlike some glory hunters.

I'm not sure about the 90% over 40 assertion. I'd go with 90% over 30 definitely, it's possibly even 90% over 35 but not sure about the cut off being 40.
