I sense some negativity creeping into quite a few posts of late.

People are just a wee bit concerned that we seem a bit light up top and very light in the heart of the defence. Two CBs are essential.

I agree but sometimes you just have to wait a bit longer to get your main loan targets.

Thought i read that KML has a shoulder injury that they have not said how long he will be out for. Therefore needed to bring keeper in before weekend.

Unless he just doesn't want to, I wonder why we haven't looked to sign Bunn as a player coach. He's only 36 which is still relatively young for a kepper, and the chances of him being called upon are fairly slim.

I read an interview with him a while back where he mentioned a bothersome hip injury in the last few years of his career so perhaps his retirement was partly forced on him.

As you posted earlier Daniel (not on this thread), even the happiest of happy clappers would feel there's a certain 'lightness' in the squad. But the 'togetherness' thing is interesting. I do wonder if Bonner/Strang identify players, follow up with watching, analysing etc. and then just conclude that there is something about that player's attitude/personality/behaviour that won't fit. What's Thomas Frank's phrase: 'no dickheads here'. It probably makes the search more tortuous but, on the evidence of last season at least, it's certainly worked. It's interesting comparing our departures and signings/loans with those of Morecambe and Cheltenham (I don't look at Bolton because of their Total Football way of playing).

MB as a coach under some of the previous regimes will have noticed the issues some bad eggs (or dickheads!) can cause. There were no prima donnas it seemed last year and the squad ethic was praised. That’s why I am sure he would have liked another couple in to gel with the squad such as on the Welsh trip. Hopefully we get the required guys in by the end of the window as personally dreading a defensive injury ATM

Completely agree. CB is an obvious one as well as up front. At one moment in the first half of the QPR game the ball was pinged forward to Smith and I was surprised it wasn't Mullin who collected it. I'll get over it. IIRC the window closes 31st August at 11 pm so plenty of time. But I think the squad that will be going into the Oxford game will be the one we have at present.

What if we have to wait for Okedina or Cundy? Would you rather wait knowing they would instantly gel or take a risk on a rather more unknown second choice?
Bonner got us promoted on a shoestring budget and he will try to do the same to keep us up. People are so worried about the back up center back, just relax. The window is open and we will get it done when the time is right.
I just hope we send Dallas or Knibbs out on loan and get a better option up front. The forward line worries me more than a back up CB right now. However before a kick in the league has been had people are overreacting.

Dallas and Knibbs are probably 3rd and 4th choice strikers and we’ll probably play one up front. Perhaps you need to relax and not be so negative!

Bet you're relishing a season of more defeats considering you only got to post on here a few times (other than your Covid hot takes) last campaign.

Why are people who raise legitimate concerns accused of overreacting? We got promoted on May the 8th, and were presumably planning for two scenarios - promotion and otherwise - since February time. To be going into a season three months after promotion with a squad worse than the one we went up with is poor.
