Looks wonderful. Clearly the most modern training facilities we've ever had and everyone involved should be really proud of their efforts and financial contributions to get this done. It really looks like a professional and state of the art facility and it would be great to understand how this compares to other L1 offerings - from what I'd read before about this it seems to be well up there with the best in the league. It is also really clear to me (as a non-footballer!) how this will help to attract (and retain) players - it is just like if we went for a job in our normal lives and two offers are on the table at similar salary levels, so what makes the choice? Workplace is clearly a factor, especially given the amount of time players spend at the training ground compared to the stadium. Do well at Cambridge United lad, get a move to the Championship, and you'll be able to buy yourself a nice house down Bentley Road. This is all quite strange because it's where I grew up. Have done thousands of dog walks along the path next to Clare College grounds. Was all fields round these ere parts, when oi were a lad. I grew up around there as well Dylan, I can hardly recognise a lot of the area now. Massive development off Long Road has changed it hugely over the last fifteen years but Iβm really glad the Uβs are staying at Clare.

Looks like a great facility. Really impressive. Andrew White elephantFinal sum at Β£3.5m is... quite a lot more than the initial Β£2m figure that was quoted. Iβve only ever seen the sum of Β£3.2 m quoted in every piece of news Iβve read.

The strength of the dollar/weakness of the pound really is our friend!

If you look at the beginning of the thread there's a few mentions of the Β£2m figure. I wonder if perhaps the discrepancy is the Β£2m being the additional investment required to meet the Β£3.2m/Β£3.5m, with Β£1.2m already raised/ringfenced.

So does the Club own this, or are we tenants?

So does the Club own this, or are we tenants? They'd probably prefer leaseholder to tenant, but yes we are.

So does the Club own this, or are we tenants? Itβs a long lease isnβt it?

I can't remember where I read it, but a precursor to doing the new building work was agreeing a decent lease extension. Can't find the article at present, but it must be long enough to cover the design life of the new building, as a minimum, I would think.

Wonder if Randy Lerner ever played at the training ground. Was at Clare when Villa won the Euro Cup and so got into football and we were on the slide so probably didn't watch us. He's put tons of cash into Clare, even has a Court named after him. I suppose we have our own States side saviour so all good.

Just catching up on this - what a fantastic transformation and a key cog in becoming a sustainable football club at this level and to hopefully push on in the future. The owners really are doing amazing things at this football club.
A 99 year lease on the sports ground and Β£3.5m is some commitment from them.
It's vital we had a daily workplace to attract and to keep our better players, as well as developing youngsters coming through the academy.

I know these things aren't 1:1 and a better training ground won't necessarily make our players perform better on the pitch from day one but...
I wonder at what point you can see the difference? By Christmas will we be 1% fitter, or a bit better drilled?
There's probably a study on the impact of football teams getting a new training ground and the performance pre/post new facilities but I wouldn't know where to find it

Happy workers perform better and if we can get an extra % out of them due to less travelling to David Lloyd gym, analysis in a room that is next door rather than meeting at a hotel, training on our training pitches more regularly due to better drainage then I believe we should see results quicker than people imagine.
There is a lot of negativity from fans at the moment due to our form but I'm very surprised at very few comments on this thread given the owners have just invested another Β£3.5m off the back of our ground purchase of Β£4.5m. Some fans/posters on here have even questioned why we have spent this money on the training ground.
This is huge for our football club and I believe this bodes well for our future.
