If Morro's back then I might look upon the rest of the season differently. Absolute class ...the guy oozes absolute class and that will affect every player on the pitch.

Mannion is fine but doesn't make any saves that change games. People on here always love our second choice keepers for some reason, swear people rated Craig Ross even though he could hardly reach the crossbar and the second choice in the promotion season was as mediocre as they come but it was some kind of travesty when he left.

"The whole midfield, right? Unfortunately, I think I agree with you"
Yeah, think so. It was always clear we needed to strengthen in the summer and while we could have muddled through with what we had its become glaring with O'Neil and May injured. O'Neil, decent player he may be, was never going to be fit all season. I didn't overly mind him getting a contract based on ability but gambling on a season from him was always going to be daft.
I'm conflicted on Digby. To an extent I think he's suffering from being spread too thin and overplayed but some of his weaknesses lately are becoming a little hard to excuse. He was clumsy and always behind play today...has been a while.
Whole new midfield needed then, yeah. If we want to stay up that is. Digby can be good enough at this level but he isn't right now, which is kind of the most important point, I think. I said quite a while back that the number of out of contract players this summer presents an opportunity to improve and progress...I imagined that would be as a league 1 club but if not then I stand by the statement. I love these guys a lot, I probably owe many of them my mental health during lockdown, they're legends and always will be, but...I dunno, it was time for some in the summer wasn't it?. It's time for others this summer.

A discussion we had at half time, Dimi is capable of playing an absolute blinder. If he can pull a handful of those off then it could be the difference

Yeah people use to cream over David Gregory because he played well once and his Dad was a lovely fella.

Burton was 2nd choice in the promotion season and saved about 8 penalties, tbf.

If he can pull a handful of those off then it could be the difference Interesting point this. I've felt secure with Mannion because he's looked dominant and confident handling crosses but you're right- he hasn't made any spectacular saves. And, again, you're right, that can be game-changing. Dimi also seems to be an ebullient, lovable character. Perhaps, psychologically, that makes the defenders more protective. It looks like our defence is going to be very different with Rennett and Morrison coming in, so I'm not sure the lockdown legends pals regiment will be in effect and its that change, I think, that's rocking the boat. Most of our squad share a house (or several houses) and have close relationships. Any mature, quality, proven players we sign will be from outside that. Blending the two worlds will be a task in itself and that's the challenge Bonner and the club faces.

"Michael, Michael Morrison" is my favourite boring song. I imagine this will return unless the Amber Banta Brigade have any more inventive ideas.

Absolutely cringey, I’d rather they were silent (or didn’t go at all) Even more cringey is the ”we’ve got the ball, we’ve lost the ball” chant they have seen on TikTok. Actually even worse, “if we score we’re on the pitch” made an appearance - we scored and nothing happened (apart from Shrewsbury scoring 2 minutes later).

We lost last week and we lost today. We can't win at home and we can't win away.

Clearly old age has finally got hold of me and I no longer understand how the world works. I log on to a thread titled Michael Morrison, hoping to see peoples thoughts, possible excitement and views on what effect it may have and find myself reading comments about our Goalkeepers and derogatory chants about our team. Advice please, anyone.

I find him coming here as a coach, if true, quite interesting. Adding an additional coach to the set up could bring fresh ideas and take some of the workload off the current three. Who knows, it can only be a positive thing for me.
Morro spent time training the under 14's at Reading, has his scouting qualifications, various coaching badges, a diploma in management and is studying for a degree in sporting directorship according to an interview I just read with him. All in all an impressive sounding chap.

At L5, it is Foundation degree equivalent. At L7, it is Masters Degree. Quite some spread that! Also depends if it is generic management, or more focused on sport. No knocking him at all, great to see that a player is investing in his future, never know, could be a future boss at the Abbey!
