I was born in Cambridge, raised in Hertfordshire and now reside in Yorkshire. Cambridge is one of a handful of places that will always feel like home. The vast majority of people on here who I 'know' would only really be people I might nod and wave to at the Abbey. I'm not averse to going to matches on my own, and when I do go with others they are friends who do not support Cambridge. In fact, I went to Saturday's game on my own and turned off all alerts on my phone - I wanted to control my environment as much as possible, owing to the nerves! I did bump into a couple of people I used to go home and away with, and it was good to see them. I see lots of familiar faces, of course, and there are some I can't put names to, and I imagine some people might recognise me or my name, but have never put the two together. It's weird to think I've been in the same proximity with certain people dozens of times, and may have exchanged messages with them on here, but have never actually met them! I'm from Ely, and back in Ely after living in South Wales for three years as a student. My first Us match was with my grandad before I reached my teens. My second was a long time afterwards with Mr KW shortly after the bug got to him. I agree with you about the proximity thing, Russ, but I am 'not good' with people so happy to remain incognito đŸ™‚ My other half spent several years chatting with the same chap on the NRE without knowing his name and for some reason it drove me potty with curiosity; he didn't want to know but I really did. He also struck up an ongoing friendship with another NRE-er purely based on standing in the same spot each week. A couple of years later we discovered that the friend and I are second cousins!

Born near the Carlton arms, then Barton , Newnham, mill rd area, USA, London, Dublin, mill rd, Milton rd, mid Chesterton, and last 20 years in petersfield. Much as I love it if I couldn't get to the abbey by bicycle I don't think I'd have watched anywhere near as much in the last 30 years

Born in Wycombe, grew up in Ramsey. That’s actually closer to Peterborough, but my Dad worked in Cambridge and took me to a few games when I was very young and I was then hooked. Moved to Norwich for uni just over 20 years ago and have been here in Norfolk ever since.

Born in Bedford, never lived in Cambridgeshire always in Biggleswade. Taken to the football by my dad for the first time in 1976 because he comes from a family that have always lived in Guilden Morden, so Cambridge for him was the local team, despite it being easier to get to Luton, Stevenage and Milton Keynes.

From Romsey, born in Mill Road Maternity, now residing in Aarhus in Denmark. I was also born in Mill Road Maternity Hospital. As soon as I and my mother were released from Hospital we came home to Whittlesford . Stayed there until I got Married, then emigrated all the way to Great Chesterford ( There was no SATNAV then) For 9 months & then back to Whittlesford. P.s When I was a young lad I knew just about everybody in the village . Now I probably know just about 10% of the people in the village. People move about much more these days , and many people commute to London from Whittlesford Station

CB2ManDem.
Grew up off Long Rd. Lived in London during my 20s. Returned to Cambridge, met my wife who's from Stevenage (I know!) so ended up half way between in Royston.
My mum still lives in Cambridge, though since my dad died moved from south to (just) north and is now part of the De Frevile Conservation Area massive.
My dossier suggests strong parallels to Jerry.

Born in Cambridge. Grew up in Waterbeach and then moved to Godmanchester as an adult before moving to Northamptonshire where i have settled and raised a family. Have still supported the U's since moving with a 45-60 min commute to home games!

Come on @arburyboy67, don't keep us in suspense any longer. Where do you hail from? : He he. Born in Huntingdon and then moved to Cambridge (the Arbury of course) before I was one. Dad was a copper and we seemed to move every 3 years: Ely, Wisbech, Cambridge again (that's when I saw my first United match), March, St Ives. Parents then split up and I ended up living with grandparents in Hounslow, West London. Despite being a bit of a messer at school I somehow managed to win a place at Cambridge University (Pembroke College) and that's when I fell in love with United all over again. Spent more time at The Abbey than any lecture hall. Then upon graduation moved over to the US. Worked there and Canada for about 15 years before returning to London. Been in Ireland since 2015. Think that's it!!

I was born in Swindon but moved to Cambridge when I was three. Lived in Queen Edith's ward behind the hospital near Bell School until (with an interruption for university) 2012 when I moved to France, then Montenegro, then Greece, now Ireland since start of 2020.
