Maybe we need a Royston U’s? Birdbrook > Cherry Hinton > London > Sydney > Bar Hill > Baldock > Royston Was living in Sydney when we played Torquay in the play off final in 2009. Game finished at 3am on the Monday morning for me and I still went into work for 7.30am. I don't think I have ever been so depressed! Nice to know of another Royston U. (Cambridge originally of course.)

There are at least two who frequent the leisure centre. I live on the side of Royton that was once part of Cambridgeshire I pleased/sad enough to say!

Born, bred and always lived in the Stortford/Stansted area. My mate's dad took me to a few games as a kid, but i started going regularly when I was about 17. I was working night shift at UCLES on Hills Road during the glory days of the Beck era, leading to some "interesting" evenings after celebrating wins against Bristol C and Millwall. Somehow I even got to work after the Cup win at Darlo and that night in Maidstone. My kids were both born at Rosie as I refused to allow them to have "Harlow" on their birth certificates. United went top of the Conference on 31/8/7 when the first one popped out. I've made loads of mates at the Abbey, most of my group have never lived in Cambridge - the exception being former CEN sports editor Cyrus Pundole who sadly left us last year - but we've somehow gravitated to the centre of the footballing universe. Obviously I'm a 2CW who also supports Stortford. But that's another story.

Hersey, I reckon you were one of about 4 or 5 lads who used to jump on the train at Stortford when me and my pal Will used to travel up from London for home games. It was in the Beck era and we always used to chat and crack on with you. Yes IIRC you lot would have been 17/18 or so.

Hmmm. I probably got on at Stansted (Mountfitchet) in those days, and I would have been around 21/22, though i still have boyish good looks even now It's possible some of our lot got on at Stortford and then we joined them. I would have been the old man of the crew

I'm also from Stortford, but moved to Dunmow in the mid-eighties. Having lived around Cambridge for a few years, found myself in Yorkshire, Stortford again and now Sunderland (just round the corner from the old stadium).

Thought i may have been the only one but saw another Dad in a CUFC jacket on the school run before the FGR game so there’s at least 2 of us.

Born in Mill Rd, first home was in Cottenham, then Histon, struck out into the world at Water Lane Cambridge, St.Mathews St, East Road (great party), London Fields, Wigston, Searle St, Mill Rd, Nashville Tn, Suez Rd, Cockburn St, Skyros Greece, Rock Road, Parkers Piece, Willow Walk, finally got somewhere assured in Cherry Hinton.
There was some sofa surfing, squatting and homelessness in there. Cambridge is useless at housing. The massive green belt largely serves the interests of home owners. By driving the prices up to overseas investor levels and not replacing sold off council housing it is a wonder that anyone locally born gets to stey here.
