Really pleased with this and I like the season-long loan approach on this one. Suits everyone. Just watched back highlights of the 4-3 Burton match. I like what he did that day but I'm even more excited by how he'll fit into our squad and system.
Welcome Gassan.

So as it stands we have an upgrade on Ironside and Haundstup.
Stevens on paper not so but a solid start to recruitment.

I’m guessing that Gassan is our first Moroccan player. We’ve had a discussion before about nationalities to represent the club so good to see another new one.
Fabulous signing, really happy with the window so far.

Abdou was born in France of Moroccan descent and Gassan born in Spain, clearly of Moroccan descent as he represented Morocco as a yoof international.

Ahhh I see, I just thought El-Kholti sounded very Moroccan! At least it's not that wide of the mark. Guess they could both count, or neither, if you were to particularly zealous one way or the other. Let's hope Gassan ends up more memorable for the right reasons if nothing else.

Nice to see it was potentially an error not to consider loans before last season began. Good to see learnings from this already, some very positive signings so far.
*Didn't matter of course, as we stayed up etc.

Two pages and no negativity?? What’s going on?? Ok, I'll bite. Am I correct in thinking that this chap has scored nearly half his career goals against us? His career stats (7 in 44) are very similar to Ironside's for last season (6 in 43) when nearly everyone decided he wasn't good enough. I am struggling to see how this is an upgrade tbh. Kentish

Now you are making him sound like Saikou Janneh which is not helping to persuade me much:) Whereas many would say that age 29 for a striker is pretty much peak age... Kentish

Kentish I suppose the most obvious point is that Ahadme is 22 and has shown glimpses of his career taking off and Ironside probably won't play at this level again. His 44 games, if that figure is correct, are likely to contain lots of late cameos as a substitute due to youth and injury. I also don't think the biggest criticism of Ironside was his strike rate. I would say that far more people were concerned about how ineffective he had become at holding the ball up, winning headers and creating space. He also gave away more and more fouls at inopportune times, putting our defence under greater pressure. His effort was fantastic but the reality was that he had become a liability. On a slightly different note, I'm not sure many new signings are replacements this year. It's pretty clear that MB sees this as the beginnings of a new team. I don't think he has been signed to replace anyone, not should we think that way. I imagine his role on the side will different from Ironside's was, even at his most effective.

Kentish I guess the minutes per goal last season - 408 plays 182 - suggests that those appearance statistics are a tad impacted by sub apps. It's a gamble, but Ipswich gambled on him after a very short period at Burton minutes wise so must have seen something in him, plus he's only 22 so you'd hope we'd be able to improve him. I imagine we'll sign a fairly boring 8-10 goals a season type as the third striker as some sort of insurance should Fejiri and Gassan don't work out but both our current strikers have the ability to out perform their recent exploits. We're just so unlikely to attract anyone proven we have to be realistic about who we target. On Ironside it was clear to see he wasn't up to it & I don't think it was in anyone's interest to keep him here as a back up.
