Not sure I'd class either Aldershot or Gateshead as the "greatest" moment but I might pick one of them as the most important...

That'd be a long title for a book, though.

That's a tough call! Similar to you EG a few in there I'd say are more 'important' than 'greatest'. But ones like the Gateshead probably qualify as both.

Looking forward to the book immensely and will enjoy reading it and placing it next to your previous book. But (and I apologise in advance for the criticism), for 7 of the 10 'greatest moment' options to have happened in the last 20 years seems a bit odd. I would imagine older fans would not agree over two thirds of the best times this club have occurred in the last 20 years, especially as 10 years of that was being non league. We were the equivalent of a championship side for a spell in the 70s for example, and I would imagine we had some great moments from that. That said, I completely appreciate that a book focusing on our achievements 50 years ago will have less of an audience. This is not to take away from the book itself - I've no doubt its meticulously researched and will be a great read.

It's a fair point. One thing I knew for sure was that, whatever options were included in the top 10, people would point out the omissions. I can't really escape that and I haven't tried to. You've definitely touched upon one of the key factors - it's partly about appealing to the widest possible target audience, and it's also about the availability of material (primarily interviewees and suitable pictures).
So, where we're talking about fine dividing lines between the sort of prominence that a moment might deserve on a list like this, an element of (conscious) recency bias has kicked in for sure.
There will be many more moments beyond the top 10 to be included in the book.

Rendell 119 is clearly not our greatest ever moment, but got my vote as it's still the most I've every celebrated a goal. Wasn't even there, was watching a dodgy stream of Setanta on a tiny window that couldn't be made full screen.

There's others on here with far more knowledge than me but I would say the 2014 Play off final vs Gateshead (was there), the 2 FA cup 6th round appearances '90 & '91, that Newcastle game (sadly wasn't there) and I also really liked the 2015 FA cup 0-0 draw with Man United at the Abbey. I was in the South Habbin, 2 Man U fans were a couple of rows ahead of me. The Cambridge fans worked it out and preceded to continuously hit them on the head with an inflatable penis. It obviously got a bit narky and the stewards put them into the away stand. Anyway, loved that game, the atmosphere was awesome.

Like most old farts I can remember all the moments listed. Tough call to pick out a single fave.
Maintaining a division 2 place for so many years in the 1970s also was a great achievement, but once the big clubs decided to keep the home game's gate receipts rather than sharing them I think the writing was on the wall
My other personal Dave is Dion's winner at Wembley. I have never felt so happy since with perhaps the exception of our return to the league.
However I think getting elected to the league in 70 is definitely up there. I believe the club did a lot of canvassing of the other clubs to get the votes needed so hats off to them for making it happen. It really was a big deal and I dread to think where we'd be now had we not got elected.

Well Russ, you've provided me and my 3 brothers (all United fans) with a good couple of hours of great banter...we've chosen 4 different ones for lots of different reasons (although obviously I'm right). And I do get the recency bias. Our club's story would have been very different if we had never been elected to the Football League in 1970 (I was not quite 3 at the time so it's part of our collective memory) but have clear (if sometimes excruciating) memories of our return to the EFL in 2014.
I presume the sequel is going to be 'Cambridge United's Worst Moments'? You've certainly got this book writing business sorted...

Wasn't even there, was watching a dodgy stream of Setanta on a tiny window that couldn't be made full screen. This is it - I think the Stevenage option is likely to be one where people say, 'How can that be on the list? It was in the fifth division, we lost in the final and were rubbish for most of the next four or five years'... but in that moment when the ball hit the net, it was as about as good as football gets. If you zoom out far enough there's not a single moment that you couldn't diminish to the point of being meaningless. There's a lovely thought for a Monday.

Much the same as a few people have already said, the more recent stuff will come to mind first I'm sure.
One I always remember was the semi final game at Bristol city in LDV Tropy.
No one gave us a chance, enter Armand One.
