Will there be a minute’s silence in respect of the recent terrible events in Israel? And Palestine? Or just Israel? The 400+ Palestinian children already dead are innocent too. Never had a minute silence for the thousands of innocent Palestinians killed in the last 75 years by Zionist thugs.

Despite the recent wording from the English FA there is no country called Palestine just 2 separate contested & semi autonomous territories under Israeli control but definitely both Israelis & Palestinians have suffered from inhumane acts of cruelty & murder Palestine is internationally recognised as a country by 139 UN member states.

As for minute silence, I think it's a fairly pointless gesture. However if there is one, it has to be for the innocent victims on both sides.
Anyways back to football?

But not by most of the developed world though, including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and all of Western Europe.

Remember when the USA refused to call it genocide in Rwanda so they didn't have to intervene? Remember when the USA and UK were the only countries not to sanction South Africa during apartheid? Not sure that following the actions of developed countries in the UN is necessarily the best approach... Oh yeh - would love to see Gordon start on Saturday.

Hmmm I wonder why old imperial countries and their former colonies that remain close don't recognise Palestine, whilst the rest of the world do? If you want to talk further about the subject then feel free to start the conversation on the social chat. Otherwise there is a football game against Shrewsbury on Saturday and I believe that's what this thread is for. I'm predicting 2-0 to the U's and someone complaining about the queue to get a beer.

What a strange request. I was merely adding context to YOUR United Nations comment made on THIS thread. Each to their own I guess as I don’t have a view either way to have a CONVERSATION but on a humanitarian level it is awful for everyone involved and after the terrorist attack with hostages taken it’s only going one way.’

Bonner did say that Gordon can play up top & we'd almost certainly see that over the next 5 weeks. Wonder what sort of striker he sees him as. He's got tall and physical but not sure I'd back him as much of a hold-up type. What's this got to do with middle eastern conflict? ??

Cambridge is mid-latitude and eastern longitudinally of the UK, hope that helps.

War crimes committed from both “sides” in the last week, despite the Western worlds fearmongering Islamophobia in basically trying to tell those not really aware of things that all Palestinians are Hamas (they are not).
Any silence should be for all innocent lives lost on both “sides”.
Believe we have a couple of Muslim players (not aware if we have any Jewish lads playing for us) I hope this weeks events have not affected them too much.

The sad and thoroughly depressing truth is that all the events of the last few days will achieve is the near certainty that the next generation of Israeli children will grow up hating Palestinians and the next generation of Palestinian children will grow up hating Israelis. Whilst those in power on both sides sit snugly and safely in their bunkers plotting ever more brutal ways of killing more of their so-called "enemies". For all the attempts of the right-wing media in this country to create a narrative of `this side 100% good , that side 100 % evil` the real truth is that the only victims will be thousands of innocent peace-loving law-abiding civilians on BOTH sides and they are the people we should be remembering in any show of respect. (As an aside , have a guess how much media coverage was given to the march in Jerusalem last week where Israeli and Palestinian women joined together to call on their respective leaders to stop acting like macho dickheads and actually make some efforts to put an end to this pointless cycle of tit-for-tat mass slaughter?) For all our incredible achievements as a human race it never fails to amaze me just how unbelievably f***ing thick we prove ourselves to be on an almost daily basis. Happy Friday everyone......

Not entirely safely, as Yitzhak Rabin would testify. And what makes it even more depressing, is he was killed by a Jew who wasn’t happy with the Oslo peace accord. How can it ever be solved with such entrenched extremist views from both sides.

Shout out to Egypt as well for their complicity in the upcoming bloodbath.

If we're giving shoutouts then don't forget us and the USA. We've pretty much given our approval for ethnic cleansing. 🤷♂️
