So, who?
Personally, I'd want Gary Rowett or Gareth Ainsworth, for different reasons. Ainsworth because (certainly in the short term) he'd give this squad some backbone and the dark arts we probably really need to stay up. Rowett because he overacheived a league up with a club not expected to be anywhere close to the play offs, and he did that playing an excellent brand of football too.
Both are also ex-U's. This clearly isn't the only factor of relevance, but if the aim is to build brand Cambridge further then someone with a link to us (tenuous in Ainsworth's case) helps.

As much as I dislike Ainsworth we need a 'nasty bastard' type manager right now so I'd take him in a heartbeat.

There's some good options available at the minute, which perhaps might have been a defining part of the decision.
Not sure as to who I'd actually want out of the out-of-work managers, but Ainsworth, Cowleys & Taylor all seem like realistic possibilities.

Rowett, Ainsworth, Cowley’s, Leam Richardson all available and all plausible.
There is a decent set of players here that can easily become as stable as that Lincoln side we played last night.
I have a feeling it will be an under 23s manager given their first role though.

Does Ainsworth play entertaining football the 10 minutes the ball is in play?
I know we have the Rowett connection but he's manager solely in the Championship since Burton right, would be a coup.

To be fair, I think we're realistic enough as a fanbase to not really mind the football so much if it produces results, given where we are as a club at the minute.
I don't think he'd be my choice, but I can understand the appeal.

Ainsworth would be incredibly expensive apparently.

Betsy & Corr are also both quite junior and have experience at that level. It needs a big personality who can lift, motivate and get a response out of these players. There are some decent credible options out there and some like Rowett/Ainsworth with links to the club.

The club connection makes Rowett an obvious frontrunner from the outside, though not sure how realistic him dropping to the bottom end of L1 is.
I think most likely we'll appoint someone lower profile than the ones already mentioned, but we'll see I guess.

Rowett'd probably do well, he often does, he's often not very popular because the football he plays is dull though.
Ainsworth - don't like Ainsworth in the slightest and I don't like his football - no doubting his success though.
The Cowley's have done nothing for a while but maybe they're better suited to being an underdog club.
I'm never entirely comfortable when a new manager is 'saddled' with an assistant. We did that for years and it wasn't until we appointed Bonner that he was able to chose his own. I'm not calling for Corr and Betsy to go, but I'm not not calling for that either.
Anyway, I'd like us to be bold and headhunt someone doing well in the league below or the conference.

We were very close to Rusk previously and he’s exactly the type I expect Strang to appoint. Ainsworth et al would potentially come with demands that would rock the boat. For me, we need that winner, proven at defying the clubs size to over achieve and a few of those are available.

I hope (and this could come back to bite me Bonner style!) that Betsy isn't given the full time job. Everytime I've heard him speak pre match this season, I've found him pretty uninspiring.
