Mahoney who is on loan from Huddersfield. That a 26 year old at a Championship side is loaned out to a League Two side doesn't ring any alarm bells for you? He gets loaned out a lot. It's unsettling. While I wouldn't say no to another winger (right) on the squad, I can think of higher priorities. We could do with a goal machine if Neil knows one. Have you known Neil since school svh? El G: "Conor Masterson or Max Clark anyone?" Masterson had 16 appearences for us on loan in the 21/22 season. He is pretty embedded at Gillingham now, after two loans he signed for them. The other defender Max Clark was a loan to us much earlier in his career (9 in the tail end of 15/16 then 27 in 16/17). Personally and personel-ly I hope he has retained some links with Nottingham Forest and (more likely) Millwall. Nice that he has managed at our pre-season partners Cardiff. Like with a lot of our players with a history at a higher level, this is a move that will see Harris back on track and in the shop window, like a prize model railway engine.

Happy enough with the appointment, has a bit of pedigree and at least has connections with the area and knows people at the club so hopefully has a bit more about him and can connect with the fanbase and the community aspect of the club more than the other out of work manages on the merry-go-round of lower league clubs. Good luck Neil.

Joey Barton has taken not getting the job well on TwitX Wow those misogynistic comments should see to it that he never sets foot in the professional game again.

If it is the end of him, in spite of him being football's Rasputin, there'll be a truly outstanding Upshot episode in the pipeline.

Welcome to the club Neil.
There's an excellent team amongst the players you have inherited, we've seen it from time to time, and if you can identify it and get it to perform consistently, we'll be absolutely fine.
Never easy taking over from someone so many admire, so don't take it personally if you get a rough ride from the fans should we lose a couple of games, there's not going to be much of a honeymoon period.

Kentish I don’t see him getting a rough ride. We’re very patient and tame compared to a lot of fans. Is plenty who think sacking Bonner was wrong, but even from those on here I don’t get the impression that they’ll be “I told you so” merchants if we lose a couple.

I suspect it'd more likely be along the lines of "I don't really understand why we sacked Bonner for this" if either the form or football doesn't improve. There's a decent team in this set of players though so I'm fairly confident that won't come to pass.

Happy with Neil's appointment, by all accounts he's a great coach to work with, fair but firm. I'm sure our more senior players will enjoy working with him.

Did make me chuckle that he's played against Morrison & Bennett.

Yeah, I know it's "in the region/in the area" but Southend to Cambridge is a pretty dreadful commute. The reverse leg is far worse.

Would be a bit of a stretch considering we don't know if anyone of them even applied or would have been interested. Who's going to volunteer to start the "Was it a mistake not to appoint Ainsworth?" poll after Harris's first loss?
