"I suspect it'd more likely be along the lines of "I don't really understand why we sacked Bonner for this" if either the form or football doesn't improve. There's a decent team in this set of players though so I'm fairly confident that won't come to pass"
Yeah, I'd have kept Bonner and was fairly confident we'd not have gone down, but this should just make it that bit more certain.
He seems like a nice guy too so that helps the transition. I thought him giving credit to Bonner for how far the club has progressed was a classy touch. He seemed chipper and optimistic.
What are our expectations of him? Where do we see ourselves finishing, and what would success or failure look like?

What are our expectations of him? Where do we see ourselves finishing, and what would success or failure look like? I said 15th before the season & haven't seen any reason to change that. Getting in the top half I'd count as a real success, & considering how samey & tight the middle of the league looks like it'll be that's an attainable outcome for a team that overperforms a little; not being realistically (if not mathematically) safe going into the few games I'd count as a failure I think.

There will also be a bit of, why didn't we get Cowley/Ainsworth/Rowett, pressure put on him. Would be a bit of a stretch considering we don't know if anyone of them even applied or would have been interested. Who's going to volunteer to start the "Was it a mistake not to appoint Ainsworth?" poll after Harris's first loss? Well I don't think that so can't answer on their behalf.

I think the Cowleys wouldn’t have been appointed as they come as a duo which would have impacted the back room structure we’ve built. I know others disagree but Ainsworth wasn’t my cup of tea. The gamesmanship at Wycombe was outrageous to the point that a lot of Wycombe fans hated it even when they were successful. Bullet dodged in my opinion. Rowett and Jones are presumably out of reach at the moment. Anyway, it’s rather academic now as we’ve appointed what I consider to be a safe pair of hands who seems to “get” what we’re about.

This is my thought. Hope he does well but I don't think this is a good move and if anything a bit of a panic by Barry. Yes, he has done well in the past but looks similar style wise to Bonner. Keeping same backroom too. I was Bonner IN, so for me this is a sideways move and would rather we stuck with him. Had we got Cowleys/Ainsworth then fair enough, something different.

One of the comments that I have just seen on BBC Sport . Hope it's not true.
"Good luck Cambridge ,you will need it .A manager who doesn't select a team on merit ,but on whether they are mates...Several players at Millwall were undroppable no matter how badly they played"

I strongly suspect that that would have been a Millwall-specific issue, if indeed it was actually an issue at all.

Anyone know what his touchline demeanour is? Is he a shouter and pointer? Or a more measured calm attitude whilst letting his coaches get the message across? I hope he’s not a type that bemoans every questionable refereeing decision that goes against us and uses that to avoid explaining why we were crap and didn’t deserve anything from the game anyway. I can’t ever remember MB using the refs done us out of a result excuse.
And will he rock a CUFC gillet and tracksuit or expensive long coat?

I can’t ever remember MB using the refs done us out of a result excuse. He did on a couple of very specific occasions (I think FGR away last season was one of them) but yeah it was very refreshing not having the ref mentioned in every other interview.

I don’t see him getting a rough ride. We’re very patient and tame compared to a lot of fans. Is plenty who think sacking Bonner was wrong, but even from those on here I don’t get the impression that they’ll be “I told you so” merchants if we lose a couple. I suspect it'd more likely be along the lines of "I don't really understand why we sacked Bonner for this" if either the form or football doesn't improve. There's a decent team in this set of players though so I'm fairly confident that won't come to pass. I was very much one who couldn’t see why we would replace Bonner with Harris. But I didn’t realise Cowley was based in Hants, and had forgot that Neil would have played alongside Corr at Southend. Knows Betsy and Bloom too, so it’s starting to look like a no brainer (If it ever was between NH and DC) None of that guarantees our form/football will improve, but it’s hard to see why it won’t. The players seemed to have lost confidence and belief in Bonner, and vice versa. In an ideal world we go 1 down in one of the next few games and come back to win. That’s a monkey that we need off our backs very quickly.
