Hi all Blackpool fan in peace. Me, wife and dog are staying in North West Norfolk for a week. On Saturday I'm on the train to Cambridge for a good day out - hopefully three points. However, you're finding the net these days so, we'll see! Top travel tip, get off the train at Cambridge North and walk across our pictureque common land to the ground.

I'd second this, I did the walk for the first time a few weeks ago and it's a much nicer way to get to the ground and it's a little closer.

I'm meeting friends in one of the pubs so I'll be getting off at the main station but thanks for the advice.

I have a strong connection to one of these, so am probably a bit biased, but The Live, Kingston, Blue, Geldart is a nice little route to the ground if you go round the back of Asda, with good ale in all.

I once thought I saw Jeff Goldblum taking the cutting round the back of Asda, but realistically, I don’t reckon Jeff Goldblum knows about the cutting round the back of Asda.

Having lived away from Cambridge for many years, I remember stumbling across that short cut behind Asda after dropping my wife off for some shopping & magically finding myself at the Geldart a few strides later

I do reckon Jeff would love the Geldart, tbf

Does the Salisbury Arms still exist? We used to go in there just coz they had stuff like The Cure on their jukebox.

Still exists as a Charles Wells' 'pizza and pots' pub. Not my sort of place, only been twice, both for deals on their pizza. In trying to be trendy with the decor they've managed to be years behind the times and the beer selection is distinctly average. It seems to be doing alright though.

Although you probably right, it’s still a really decent pub. That part of town is spoilt with brilliant boozers.

When I was a teen/early 20, it was a challenge to go as far from the Grasshopper up Mill Rd as you could, having 1/2 a pint in each pub on Mill Rd, or within 100 yards of it. A fair few never made it much further than the Devonshire! A great pub crawl!

Mid 80's, used to start at the Brook & we'd just about remember being in the Locomotive before heading across the Piece into Town. That was without venturing off to many of the side streets near Mill/East Road

The Kingston Arms being restored to a pub, after its ludicrous but thankfully brief stint as a venue that specialized in “wine and hummus” is the best recent pub-related news. Still not 100% back to former glories: last time I attended there was an absence of Woodforde’s Wherry, to my mind East Anglia’s finest brew. Plus no big metal pots of chips.
