So, on we go. The Harris Santa Express takes us to car hating Oxford on a day when no trains are running…
This is my first match thread start of the season so I’m expecting three points please lads.
Hopefully Gas is OK - I was a little concerned when he came off against Exeter as he looked like he’d been struggling for a few minutes prior, if he is then same team again.

Harris said after Exeter that Gassan almost didn't play due to illness, so there's a chance he may need a rest. Hopefully we can rest him up the next couple of days and start him at the Kassam.
If he does miss this or Stevenage, I think it would be interesting to see how Lankester and Kachunga do as a pair. A false 9 with a 9.5. Innovative.
I'd stick to the same team. Cousins and Thomas had a good level of control Vs. Exeter and helped us move the ball to the wings quickly. No need to change anything unless we've got injuries.

Harris stated in his radio interview that Gas was touch and go whether he played last night. Kachunga was also limping at the end too. But players seem to have a habit of being fit when on a decent run so fingers crossed.

I would go with the same team if all ok for Oxford and then make changes v the Chav's as Evans cloggers will be out to damage a few players. Would play Cousins at Oxford but maybe rest him for Digby at the Chavs for example. Oxford aren't flying as there were under Manning but a point would be a decent return at a ground we always seem to come away with nothing. Away following won't be as big due to lack of trains, out of town ground and probably a lot of hangovers

Is there any price increase if getting tickets on the day? Very much a wake up and see for me. Agree on keeping it the same if poss, although Lankester must be pushing hard for a start, his cameos have been superb.

Assuming he starts the Oxford match it will be Sullay Kaikai's 50th club appearance.

Awful game for a boxing day fixture.

Awful game for a boxing day fixture. To give credit the Conference putting local games over Christmas was a good feature.

We've had worse Christmas fixtures, albeit we have been quite lucky to have had a lot of home Boxing Day fixtures recently

Yes, but imagine that fixture from their perspective - at least we were at home!

Yes, but imagine that fixture from their perspective - at least we were at home! It’s crap from both sides but yes we were at home. I know they won’t let us play Boro on Boxing Day or NYD but we could play Northampton, Orient & Stevenage over the period which are all local and good for both clubs. Just needs a little thought from the EFL at times but then you could say that about a lot of things with the EFL!

I don’t think Oxford is necessarily a bad fixture for Boxing Day. Lack of trains aside it is normally an easy car ride and plenty of parking at the stadium too. Far better than something like Fleetwood or Bolton away, or Exeter etc.

To quote someone on their forum, '3 points out of 9 against 3 shite teams'. Massive unhappiness. Looks like it might be a good time to play them. I got the Exeter predicted score line right so I'm going for:
Oxford Utd 1 Cambridge Utd 3
And Brophy gets one of them.
