Strang really is useless at his job. More injury prone players coming in by 31st of January. Wish he got sacked with the boring Bonner.

Joe Taylor has gone to Lincoln City on loan after scoring 12 for Col U first half of the season. Was at Kings Lynn Town who treated him terribly after a stupidly good loan at Wroxham & went to them up the road before Luton. Another non-league player based within an hour of us that we missed out on originally & out of our price range for his latest loan I suspect.Posh have just signed a prospect from Biggleswade FC (who presumably was playing with Kaunda?), called Pemi Aderoju. Only 19, so 'one for the future' working with their U21 team, rather than going straight into the first team squad, but that is not a route we are really able to offer to youngsters. Means we can often miss out on those with potential. Nah Pemi was already with Posh 21s before Kaunda went there. Maybe so, but Sonny Carey went straight into Blackpools squad. Josh Stokes has done the same at Aldershot Town where he’s tearing it up. Joe Taylor went into Posh then Lutons firsts set up from Lynn. Those are just a few recent ish ones off the top of my head that haven’t gone into the youth / 21s first. Ash Hay is with Brentford B but they don’t have an academy so that’s a funny one.

Didn't realise that, perhaps Kaunda was brought in to replace him? As he was back with us on Saturday, is that his loan over, or is it a 'flexible' arrangement that he could be in our squad one week, then return to Biggleswade? I think part of our recruitment strategy has been to overlook the potential of youngsters, not having time to invest in their development, favouring players who can go straight into the first-team squad. I guess that might be driven by budget as much as anything?

But Posh have always signed good prospect players and then sold them on for lots. When was the last time we sold a player for a million plus? You have to question DOF again

Our lack of good recruitment really needs looking at by Mr Barry, and heads should roll, it is an area we are constantly weak in and Teflon Strang is behind the current debacle.

Pish got a kepper? Norwich born Jed Steer (31).
Technically an ex U as we had him on loan in the conference along with Nick Pope.

Our recruitment is absolutely fine ffs. Some players we sign are good, some are bad, that's football.
We got laughed at by Carlisle fans for signing Iredale in League 2, a couple of years later we couldn't keep him in League 1. None of Mullin , Ironside, Digby etc came much better recommended. Lennett signed from Sudbury, now League 1's greatest ever right winger to never play there.
There are specific questions to be asked about strategies and the balance of the squad, in terms of positions and injury records etc. That's all they are though, questions. I'd rather the current recruitment team learnt from them and improved (which I'm sure Strang and others have done in the time they've been doing it) than we started a weird merry go round of scouts every time someone else outbids us for a target.
Ultimately we've got a squad that has performed at or above it's budget consistently for 4 years in a row (assuming survival without drama this year). That doesn't happen if the recruitment isn't actually quite good overall.

Nine days in and we haven’t signed anyone. People need to get off their arses and start looking for and signing all those quality players that are so easily attained. I mean how hard can it be to find a 20 goal a season striker in January that we can sell for £20m in June. Relegated by the end of the month at this rate. Strang out, Harris out, Bonner out, Marvin out, matchday helpers out, programme sellers out and cattle on the common out too!

I'm as keen as anyone to see a new signing or 5 but we have to be realistic in this market. The real need is for a centre forward who can hold the ball as well as create and score. This puts us in a market with at least 50% of clubs in the League, the majority of whom have larger budgets or are prepared to take a huge gamble whose impact could be felt well beyond this window. Harris has hinted that we may keep Gassan - who I like as a player - but that's at least 2 months of contributing to his wages for zero return when the same money could be used to bolster whatever else is currently available. Our need is now, hopefully not in April.
As for the recruitment policy, there's no doubt there has been good, bad and indifferent but again, doubt it's very different to the vast majority of other clubs. We are clearly hampered by not having the resources for a B team which means taking a punt on someone to develop is a huge ask unless they fit into our youth programme and even that won't yield results quickly enough to satisfy most, tying up much needed budget elsewhere. It's a luxury the lot up the road (& many others) enjoy to good effect and hopefully is a goal for our future.
Strang and Harris have proved previously (here & elsewhere) that they aren't stupid in footballing terms so none of the above will be news to them. We just have to keep the faith and hope they get more right than wrong this time around.
Now get someone in the bloody door.....!

Our circumstances are somewhat special, so absolutely, 9 days in no need to panic but we have no fit strikers, no fit midfield alternatives and no quality back up in wide areas. I'm not panicking, but I do want to see some movement soon...before Saturday. Please.
Harris' comments the other day fuel the concern a bit for me. I can understand why we're behind the chasing pack (we sacked a manager who would have had has his own targets lined up back in October and those will have changed with the new manager) but that doesn't stop it being frustrating.
I am sure we'll be stronger on the 1st Feb, mind, especially as Thomas and Kachunga should only be short term absentees. I fully expect at least one in by Saturday.
