Anyone want to play Harris leaving statement bingo. I've got "triffic club" "Cambridge means to much to me and my family" "thanks to the owner" "These things happen in football" added to my card. Millwall were the only club he'd leave us for.

I bear some responsibility for this. I was at Millwall’s capitulation to Sheffield Wednesday. My God, they have some angry fans! I think it's pretty obvious that the owners going for him is more a PR play than anything else. There's certainly nothing about his actual managerial record in the past 3 or 4 years that suggests he's the right man to get them out of the mess they're in, but it shows action, likely mollifies the fans (for a bit anyway) & likely gives the club a lift. Sometimes that's enough. If that helps keep them up it further solidifies his status & reflects well on the owners; if he takes them down, at least they did Everything They Could and are ready to attack L1 with someone who knows and cares for the club at the helm. And who makes an excellent cover for the financial cloth-cutting & turmoil they'll need to go through to sort themselves out. It's basically us appointing Shaggy. Yep, I've looked at a couple of Millwall message boards and the posters who are supportive of Harris' return are saying things such as 'he's a Millwall lreged', 'he's Millwall through and through', 'he knows the club from top to bottom' etc. There's a significant number who are opposed to his return though. Don't know if that's reflective of the whole fan base but it certainly seems like a mixed 'welcome back'.

It’s one of those that he will say is too good to turn down. I think the lack of signings in January hurt him more than he let on. Let’s move forward not backwards, Duff and Rowett are standout options. We targetted 4, we got 3. If that's why Harris is off then the sooner he leaves the better, because that'll be the reality of working within a budget. I doubt that's anything to do with it though. The club he loves has come calling for him - he's hardly going to say no is he? Word I heard that 4th player Harris wanted was signing until his agent put a spanner in the works.

Would this make Harris the first manager to walk out on United since Tommy Taylor went to Orient mid 90s? Tommy Taylor's replacement didn't do too badly.... Roy Hodgson is looking for a job....

F*ck's sake I've been in meetings all day and just learned of this. I'm told it's 100% a done deal - by the same source who told me Harris was coming here in the first place. This feels like another Claude Le Roy moment. Whatever his attachment to Millwall, it's really dishonourable behaviour and can't be excused.

It would be absolutely delicious if we ended up with QPR and whatever version of A Neil Harris's Millwall he'd managed to cobble together in our division next season, along with Charlton.

Interesting that Myers has also been sacked from Millwall, so Livermore a cert to reunite with Harris it seems.

'The only club I would have left for.' "Club statement: Neil Harris" Corner flag photo, match ball, floodlight or the wildcard of a close up a Harris fist pump? Lots of pressure on the social media guy here.
