I’m really pleased about this appointment. He needs full support now. Key is survival and then give him time to build.

He won't be here for long. Gone after relegation and a bad start in L2 next season. Mid October.

Welcome Garry!
Hopefully we put a "you can't go back to Swansea" clause in his contract after the Harris fisaco.
Can't remember the last time we had three permanent managers in the same season.

Meh.
I'm a little unsure what to make of it. He hasn't managed for just over 3 years which isn't great at first glance.
Clearly was/is a decent manager though even if he hasn't done so well since leaving Middlesbrough in 2017. If we get the version of him we know he can be we should quite easily stay up.
Local guy which I think I appreciate. It might help him settle in the area and commit more than the previous manager did.
Really odd time to be appointing a manager, I don't envy the decision at all.

Bigger risk than Harris but a higher ceiling if things go right.

Welcome Garry. Let’s hope you do better than the comments from my Middlesbrough-supporting mate suggest!
‘Hmm... Monk was terrible for us! Oversaw a massive spending spree including signing 3 strikers Assombalonga (£15m), Martin Braithwaite (£9m) and Ashley Fletcher (£6m) who all pretty much flopped and were never likely to be able to play in a team together and when they did play together we predictably had no width or creativity. Don't really know what he was trying to achieve in terms of style of play or anything. Think he just thought if he bought a load of players we'd buy promotion but he didn't seem to have a tactical blueprint in mind for the players he bought.
He came with a good reputation from his time at Swansea and was supposed to be this exciting young manager playing attractive football etc but it didn't pan out that way at Boro at all.‘

Glad we've appointed someone. Good luck to him, supporters need to give him and the team their full support the next few months. No more Bonner this and Harris that. Put that behind us for now and support the boys. Totally agree. It's (another) fresh start but we've got to back the team on Saturday and for the next 10 games.
