Having let it sink in, I'm actually quite excited by this appointment. He seems a much better fit for the club than other candidates mentioned and, indeed, Harris.
Bring it on.

Pleasing that he'll be making his managerial debut for us at the Abbey. I wonder if there will be any fist pumps after Saturday's win?

He'll know Morrison from his time at Birmingham, of course.
Trying to work out if he'd have crossed paths with any of the rest of our squad? He'll have at least managed against Taylor, Cousins, Bennett & Bonne I'd have thought.

Am so glad its a young, fresh manager, point to prove but had some success and I do like his ethos. Much better than a Grayson type.

The most important question is are we happy with 'Monkference'?

Really pleased with this appointment. A guy with a good track record but also something to prove. Upgrade on Harris and hopefully not a fist pumper.

The poor dear Father Hacket. He's been outdone by a Monk. Perhaps he'll now take a vow of silence?!! .

Monk at the Abbey makes sense to me. The 'U's become the Choir? We'll have to sing up.
Cambridge majority owner Paul Barry said: "He is a coach of high pedigree, has managed at the top level and impressed us all with his leadership skills, clarity of thinking and his analysis of Cambridge United - both the squad and the club.
"Although he has had opportunities to get back into the game over recent times, he has been waiting for the right one. Like us, he sees this as a project and we are pleased he has decided to join us on the journey ahead."
Quite the endorsement there. Captain as a player, so I'm hoping he has some inspirational qualities. Or malty beer. BeerRiff Coffee Porter?

His name fits the amber army chant much better than Harris's, which is the most important thing.
