Having let it sink in, I'm actually quite excited by this appointment. He seems a much better fit for the club than other candidates mentioned and, indeed, Harris. Bring it on. Me too, just the fact that he has managerial experience at the highest level is huge for us.

Major concern is why has he been out of work for 3 years ? Klopp top of premier says HE needs a break.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given where else he's managed, it's obvious that the off-field stability and non-rubbish-nor-bustness of our set-up is the thing that really appeals to him.

I've heard Boro fans talking about this before. Seems like a bit of a mess in all honesty that no one comes out of looking good. You'd think/hope the chances of something like that potentially happening here are quite low, given the league we're in, and the structure & resources we have as a club.

The most important question is are we happy with 'Monkference'? Andrew 'Monkey Business'? Or are we reserving that for the transfer window? Edit: 'Monkey's Business' / 'Monk: Key Business' ?

I like they way he comes across in his interview I think he will be someone who will become likeable and hopefully get us the points we need and rebuild in the summer under his style of football.

General Monck was instrumental in restoring Charles the Second (we are on the third now). Oversaw London during the Great Plague of 1665 preceding the Great Fire. Playing like Monkengladbach?
Confirmation was the press conference announcing it. This X is an overused and over quoted sound bite repository.

Mixed feelings about this.
Always difficult to appoint during a season, particularly so soon after the last one.
He has pedigree and I imagine he'll command the players' respect, so that's a good start. Seems from The Atheltic article that he's a meticulous planner as well, which can't hurt.
Do have some concern when you spend that long out the game though. I know he's got a coaching company and I'm sure he hasn't been totally out of the football world all that time. But that's quite a long time out of the hot seat.
I dunno, the appointment doesn't fill me with lots of confidence but at the same time I'm not resigned to relegation. It's a big call. Hopefully it pays off. I'll be there Saturday willing him on all the same.
He seemed calm and confident in the press conference. Nothing to fault in there really. Reassuring that he's been in this sort of situation with Swansea and Brum before. Imagine that was a selling point to the board.

I'm really not sure you've fully grasped the purpose of this message board, you know.

Comes across nicely relaxed, measured in his words, more Bonner than Harris I would say.

Comes across nicely relaxed, measured in his words, more Bonner than Harris I would say. Will he be trying to galvanise the club and reestablish that connection from the terrace to the pitch?
