What sum do we estimate Taylor is 'earning'? There are rumblings in Block B that he's bringing home a mighty bounty of eight thousand florins per week! Our staff costs for an average 213 employees across the whole club up to June last year was £4.9m. Even with an increase in budget this year, I'm fairly certain we aren't paying Lyle Taylor almost 10% of our entire wage bill.

Monk's comment about Taylor's injury that it's about 'how he feels'.... it sounds like it's not that serious but Taylor would rather not play. Maybe I'm reading too much into it?! There is no real treatment for a groin strain. I think all Monk meant was that only Taylor will know when he’s fit enough to contribute. I’m not convinced we will see him again, but that’s not cos he’s refusing to play. Probably a good thing if he does miss the Charlton game anyway.

I can imagine Harris, in a farcical semblance of Del Boy, foolishly splashing silly money on him in January. Is it not a six month deal?

If we’re splashing that kind of cash on a 34yo striker who has barely played for years then I’m amazed it’s Monk and not Duff or Rowett sitting in the hot seat.

Allegedly a number of our players earn in excess of £4k per week which sounds about right for a lower L1 club. What is true is that L1 cannot be done on the cheap, even though we are still one of the lowest payers. I think it was on X (therefore it must be true, right?) where our weekly wage bill was quoted at £68k, and that was before the January additions.
I’ve heard rumours of Taylor being in between £5 and £6k per week from a number of different folks, so not as high as the £8k quoted in B block. It’s unlike those of us in C block to accept a lower figure…

Looking at the Barnsley, Wigan and Blackpool fan forums there is a real consistent negativity across all 3 fan bases: unhappiness with the managers; unhappiness with most/all of the squad; irritation at the playing styles; deep concern with recent form; and, being underwhelmed at current league positions with Barnsley expecting to have been in the automatic promotion places, Blackpool expecting a play off place and Wigan just expecting to be somewhere better.
Whatever Saturday's result, we really couldn't have wished for a better time to play these three. Oh the beauty of the vagaries of the fixture calendar.

Yeah I had a glance at the Blackpool forum earlier and most seem to be expecting a poor showing from them on Saturday. Here's hoping we can prove them right.

Thankfully you’d never find any such nonsense round these ways 🎢

All three of those teams have massively delusional fans who think they're bigger than they are. The only lot worse than those are Bolton fans. When we've beaten all three of those teams, a read of their official full time Twitter feed makes you think 11 middle-aged blokes fresh from the pub had just turned them over.

Although having listened to the pre match presser it sounds like we're going to have to raise our game another notch compared to Barnsley and Wigan. Bloody Bonner Bigging Up the Opposition .....Again......

Talking of Lyle Taylor he’s on the 5 live 72 podcast according to his Insta story. Perhaps he needs the appearance money 😉

Thanks for posting Dan. Finally got a chance to listen to the whole of the interview and a couple of things struck me: -Regarding the interviewer who was absent on holiday, Monk's response saying 'didn't have my list' is, I think, either a reference to him not having a list of interviewers or a funny reference to the famous INJURY LIST; judging by his smirk I think it's the latter in which case I like it. -The 'D'ya know what I mean' insertions I had found irritating but, they're just really an interruption which he uses as a prop as he's speaking so I ignore them and keep on listening; as others have said we've employed him as a football coach not as Head of PR and he seems to have started doing (more than) fine in that role -He made a number of references along the lines of 'getting to know the squad/trying to find out more about them/new players to get to know' etc etc; I didn't think about it at the time but, upon reflection, perhaps a little surprising that he didn't mention Corr-Betsey in terms of continuity? Anyway I'm starting to educate myself (again) in terms of a how a new manager uses language to explain his stuff. Hopefully this lesson will last a little longer than the last one.

Was impressed with his presser today. It’s clear that he has educated himself on our club, our squad and the division as a whole. Lincoln and Reading shocked us all, he must have wondered just what the hell he had walked in to. In hindsight, I wonder if Corr and Betsy could have helped him out more in terms of team selection, formation etc for those 2 games. Plus every interview he done seemed to be concentrating on those who weren’t available, rather than those who were.
I liked where he said how well Jobe has done, but was quick to emphasise that he’d spotted a few little errors that he’d help him with. That’s what you want from a head coach and the fact he was a CB himself will benefit Jobe and the other young defenders hugely.
The praising of Blackpool was sensible and probably done to make sure the players stay fully focused on the task in hand. I had huge doubts about him, but I like what I’ve seen and heard over the last couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to seeing what we look like come August.
