All three of those teams have massively delusional fans who think they're bigger than they are. The only lot worse than those are Bolton fans. When we've beaten all three of those teams, a read of their official full time Twitter feed makes you think 11 middle-aged blokes fresh from the pub had just turned them over. The funny thing is when you meet them in real life (bump into a lot of Bolton/Wigan fans up 'ere) they all seem incredibly grounded and much more on the pessimistic side if anything. Proper bunch of wallopers online though!

Looking at the Barnsley, Wigan and Blackpool fan forums there is a real consistent negativity across all 3 fan bases: unhappiness with the managers; unhappiness with most/all of the squad; irritation at the playing styles; deep concern with recent form; and, being underwhelmed at current league positions with Barnsley expecting to have been in the automatic promotion places, Blackpool expecting a play off place and Wigan just expecting to be somewhere better. Whatever Saturday's result, we really couldn't have wished for a better time to play these three. Oh the beauty of the vagaries of the fixture calendar. Any of them got a poll on their forum to sack their manager 3 games in?

I can imagine Harris, in a farcical semblance of Del Boy, foolishly splashing silly money on him in January. Is it not a six month deal? I can imagine that too. Fortunately we have a director of football who's responsible for contracts and budgets. STRANG OUT

Fortunately we have a director of football who's responsible for contracts and budgets. STRANG OUT That silly money looked pretty fecking sensible to me when he won us at least two games, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury. Taylor’s decline is 99% correlated with Harris’s rat job IMO.

The fact he refused to own his mistake in getting himself sent off probably has a fair bit to do with it. Claiming he was provoked and insisting on an appeal went down about as well as Harris’ goodbye speech.

Whatever Saturday's result, we really couldn't have wished for a better time to play these three. Oh the beauty of the vagaries of the fixture calendar. Any of them got a poll on their forum to sack their manager 3 games in? Sure, that poll is looking like it will bite me in the backside and, well, already is. But I wasn't the only person asking the question after a) losing 6-0 b) losing 4-0 and c) early pressers where Monk came across as blasé at best, completely clueless at worst. We never lost like that under Corr's interim spell or when the rat was manager. We only started picking up those kind of results at the tail end of Bonner's time. So for it to happen as soon as Monk came, when everyone would have reasonably expected a new manager bounce of sorts, was really concerning. It looked like we had completely capitulated and given up. It could be argued that our two best results and two worst results of the season have happened under Garry Monk's leadership, which is remarkable given he's only managed 5 games. As someone said in a previous post, this has been a real emotional rollercoster of a season. I don't think I've known one like it. We've had more drama in one season than several seasons put together. The poll was done high on emotion because I love this club too much and there have been too many ups and downs this season: sacking a manager all of us loved, the snake using and abusing us and then fucking off, Taylor being the hero until he became the villain. And then a second new manager bounce straight towards league 2... until the last two games. So yeh, if the last two games are anything to go by I will get ribbed for the poll for a time to come, but it came from a place of caring too much for this club after a very emotionally charged season.

So for it to happen as soon as Monk came, when everyone would have reasonably expected a new manager bounce of sorts... The 'new manager bounce' phenomenon usually happens after a manager has been sacked after a poor run of results, 'losing the dressing room' and/ or underachieving with the resources they've been given. The change gives the players a temporary lift. None of these things applied in this situation and we shouldn't have expected it to happen. As for the poll, I completely understand why you made it. I was seething after Reading and felt utterly powerless. The poll was an action you took because you felt you needed to do SOMETHING. I find it hard to think logically when I'm overwhelmed with emotion, too. It was also well-timed because the jokes about the Liam Bennett loan were getting a bit tired and now you've given us another corker. I fully expect once this has got old you'll come up with another one Up the U's!

hahaha!....... but I didn't set up the Liam Bennett poll. You've got the other Martin to thank / blame for that. But either way, I stand by every word of my argument about that loan

Should we have a ‘which Martin created the most impactful/detrimental poll’ poll?

Back to the match, pretty sure we'll lose this one but not to a thrashing. Feel like the bit of luck we've had recently with goals (at both ends) might dry up, so 2-0/2-1/3-1 loss I think. As long as we're competitive though I won't mind too much.
Obviously keeping an unbeaten run going would be fantastic, for the table and general mood, so fingers crossed for at least a point.

El Goodo (or was it TSFOR?) is right in that we've had the rub of the green in the last couple of games. That first half at Barnsley was crazy and the own goal they scored for us may well prove to be the turning point of our season! I'm confident we'll do ok tomorrow and look forward to seeing us score another brilliant goal. 2-1 loss after being two down and then coming back in to it.
