More current, Eberechi Eze lives two doors down from me; he likes a pool party in the summer but always turns the music off by eleven - very considerate...

I just remembered that when I lived in uni halls in the Lacemarket in Nottingham, Deon Burton off of Derby County lived in a block of nice apartments next door and gave me and a mate £20 each for helping him move some furniture into a van as we walked past.

I lived on the Newmarket Road corner of Wadloes Road, and where I live now in Histon there is (or was) shared accommodation for new players, so, dozens, none of which I can particularly remember.
I do know Jimmy Quinn's godson though.

Leon Legge lived round the corner from me in Cottenham for a while.
Well liked in the community, his big white car with personalised number plate gave the game away a little.
Adam Drury often seen around the village as he grew up here & parents still here I think.
Lance Key ran our local.
And you want niche, my best mate lived above several West Brom players in flats in Birmingham City Centre and my Grandmother used to live next door to Bruce Riochs brother.

Partick Thistle legend Davie McParland lived in the same row of houses I grew up in. Don't recall too much asides from him doing some fitness work on the "big" green at the back. He moved away before I began to hone my "skills" on the same piece of turf!
My gran worked in a newsagent/tobacconist that was frequented by most of the Falkirk squad in the 60s/70s so lots of autographs and picture cards. My grandad held 2 season tickets at Brockville and I shared the 2nd one with the my brother on alternate match days so these players were real "stars"!
I worked a paper round from a newsagent in Alloa owned by George Ormiston, Alloa Athletic former secretary, director and chairman. He had me running the turnstiles with a few of my mates from around age 14.
Alex Totten, former Alloa & Falkirk player, manager and assistant manager at Rangers was a friend of my Dad's so lots of footballer links as I grew up!

I don't think I have ever told this story, but back in 2001 I was a student in the city and went out drinking with a group of friends in the old Rat & Parrot (now La Mimosa).
Upon leaving, we started walking / staggering up Park Parade, alongside Jesus Green, to head back towards busses home. About halfway up the road, one of the other lads (promise it wasn't me) randomly grabs a pot plant from the outside window ledge of one of the houses and starts legging it up the road. No idea what made him do it, one moment we were walking as a big group, the next he's grabbing this pot plant. I think he thought he was being funny. Too many drinks.
A few seconds later, a half-dressed Lionel Perez comes storming out of the house, giving chase. Matey drops the plant and carries on running and an irate Lionel takes it back to his house, muttering angrily in French.
I didn't dare stop for a chat.

John Wark was one of the lads dad in my junior football team from U12's to U14's.
This was in Suffolk the season after he retired from Ipswich and he's since been voted their club legend. Literally gave us a goal advantage as the lads on the other team were in shock to see him on the touch line.
He was really good and just a really cool normal guy. He got stuck into the parental duties so even took his turn washing the team shirts.
He was really generous with his encouragement and when he shouted praise at you during the match you felt 10 foot tall.

Leon Davies was in the same year as my eldest daughter at Milton Primary and he lived fairly close by.
Also when I first started working at Philips in 1984 one of the nicest guys there was someone called Tony Tuddenham. He knew I was a United fan and often used to ask me how things were going although my 17 year old self had no idea he used to play for us (albeit just 14 appearances over two seasons) and he never told me either.
Top bloke.

Nigel Cassidy lived just down the road from me in Fulbourn ….blooming nice bloke too Yes, I think he lodged at The White Hart pub. That was my local and we had a pretty good darts team. Nigel loved a game of darts with us and was a damn nice bloke, no airs and graces, and always bought a round of drinks.

Top bloke. When I returned to Cambridge in 1985 to study beer and pinball (and occasionally Modern History) at CCAT I initially lodged with a young family in Chalmers Road ; Richard my landlord was one of the chefs in the Philips canteen. He was a very decent midfielder for Pye Unicam (as it was in those days) and their Sunday team usually included at least one Darler. Although they played at a good standard for Sunday league they were far more interested in having fun and having a beer after the game than being too successful........ which is where I came in. When they were inevitably top of the Cambs & District Sunday League Division Two at Christmas I began to be included in the team to try and ensure that they avoided promotion and thus the much more serious and less enjoyable top division. I pride myself that I achieved this aim with ease.
