I didn't include Option 4 because it's never going to happen. It's never going to happen? What do you know that we don't?! It's reasonable to believe that we may end up keeping our current badge. Not sure why option 4 poll was closed down. It'd be instructive. I am pretty sure that we have been presented with the 3 final options for change. Option 4 is not an option, so whether 100% of the MB want that, it isn't going to be retained. To quote a MB user, 'What is point' of having option 4 included, apart from stirring things up?

Anyone in favour of "Option 4" is perfectly vocal about it already, with or without a poll option! What is the harm in a poll exploring that question? If option 4 scores lower than option 1, 2 or 3, at least we know. If option 4 scores 80%, well then that starts a new discussion.

In the minority here. For me it’s easily Nr 2. I quite like Nr 3 so both of those would be an improvement over our current badge.
But Nr 1, what crap is that. We cannot seriously have that badge, and this poll has been hacked by Russia / Peterborough

The desire amongst some to close down a genuine debate is baffling. And odd.
When did message board discussions have to be limited to the views of the club owners?!

But the 'no, don't change it' topic was discussed ad finitum when the first designs came out; that ship has sailed, they have made it clear that change will happen, so moaning on about keeping the old version is nugatory and won't change anything.

Why can't we have a fourth option of keeping the current one on the message board poll? Is it not in the interests of the supporters to understand how deep rooted the desire to keep the current badge, or indeed get rid of the current badge, really is? I feel like a lot of people still want to existing badge to stay. Where is the harm in putting numbers on it? Or has the club got the message board admin on side too? Its not an option though, is it? It exists, it is an option. The club are just seemingly ignoring it.

Then carry on discussing it, it won't make any difference!
They haven't ignored it, they have explained the rationale behind change.

Having slept on it, I think I'd go for #3. It's unique, it's has character, and it has ties to the club's history. I mock the 'book reading a ball' logo, but I think this turns it into a viable, modern option. I actually quite like #2. I like the idea behind it, and mostly like the design itself. I can't look past the artichoke/asparagus similarity though (I actually saw it as hops). I also prefer the full "Cambridge United" over "CUFC". #1 feels too Inter Milan/Bolton Wanderers to me. I see where it's coming from, but I don't like it and I don't think it'll age well. Also we shouldn't compare ourselves to those giants of the modern game. I do prefer some of the designer's other work, but I think we're a pretty difficult brief for a designer. I don't think there's an iconic 'motif' to build the badge/brand around. Top marks for lack of a generic roundel with an animal in the middle.

Another forum I'm part of has a banner I'm quite fond of: "The mods have a simple message to all who enter. Every culture has its distinctive and normal system of government. Yours is democracy, moderated by corruption. Ours is totalitarianism, moderated by assassination. You have been warned."

But that discussion is pointless! If you think that, you are welcome to not take part in it. But it would be nice if admin would at least allow a poll with Option 4 to take place, so that fans opinions can actually be gauged in numbers. That admin are refusing to do so, when we have had so many random polls about far less emotive issues, is frankly bizarre and smacks of either personal narrative or a direct influence from the powers that be within the club. It is clear that certain people are trying to stop the discussion. And that is wrong. If the badge has to change, the badge has to change. It's the decision of Paul Barry as majority owner at the end of the day. But to restrict fans from running a poll....

If admin don't want to allow a poll with an option 4, can we have a poll to ask the forum whether we should be allowed a poll with an option 4? And if admin won't allow that, can we have a poll to ask the forum whether we should be allowed a poll to ask the forum whether we should be allowed a poll with an option 4?

All I would say, is the moderators of the forum doing a very good job of keeping things tidy, and aren't dictated to by anyone in authority at the club. But I can see your point about having the 4th option on the poll. However, it is only ever going to be an opportunity for people to say 'X% of fans didn't want change', when we know that the club has so many more fans that don't come anywhere near this MB. In reality, that is what all the consultation events are there for, to gauge the wider views of as many fans as possible. By all means share your opinion, but I'm pretty certain that even if everyone who supports the club said 'No Change', it would still happen.

All those who say that the badge should not change should remember that had the badge not changed there would not be the badge that must not change.

This is a bit daft and some people are making themselves look overbearing and over important on here.
Absolutely no discussions on this message board have an influence on the club and the decisions they make. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. But we should be free to have any discussions, regardless of whether they fit the official line of the club or not. This is an unofficial message board after all.
What are the option 4 blockers so afraid of?!!
