Thought this had been out for a couple of months. Howerton was talking to Charlie Day about Blackberry and Fools Paradise going head to head ages ago.
I've no real interest in these type of films tbh - the Tetris film, the one about the shoes, this one - but I do like Howerton so will probably give it a go.

Andrew Yeah think it came out in America a while back. Fools Paradise never came out over here but apparently wasn't great

Killers of the flower moon - 8/10
A good film but a bloody long film, 3 1/2 hours so strap in with snacks for this one. Pacing is good and the story is excellent. Leo and Deniro are at the top of their game as always. My only complaint is that it is so long, could probably have knocked 30 mins off at least

It's an interesting story, it's well acted, some of the camera work is amazing...but I didn't enjoy the film particularly. I don't mind slow burn films but it really started drag by the time it chugged it's way to the end.
I'd recommend seeing it for sure, but maybe wait until it's on Netflix so you get up and make a sausage and a cup of tea halfway through or something.

Ah, find a way to squeeze it in. I can't recommend it highly enough. Geoff Norcott did a gig at the abbey once as a Bridge the Gap fundraiser thing. Andrew Finally got it in on Friday, worth the wait. Probably my favorite film of the year, it's essentially Rogue one but with a better story. Surprising that Ken Watanabe is the only one who survives as he's up there with Sean Bean for deaths. Love John David Washington, Leo level actor. If he's in a film, it'll be good. The young girl who plays Alpha is superb 80 million budget and they've got it looking that good. The one thing that really gets me is just how much they sell that relationship between Alpha & Joshua. 8.5/10

Watched The Killer on Netflix last night. Fincher is one of my favourite directors along side Scorsese and Michael Mann and I was really looking forward to this.
I’d give it a 6.5 out of 10. Very watchable if you’re a Fincher fan but less so if you want a bells and whistles actioner about a hitman. It is very cold and dark with some fantastic looking interiors which is a hallmark of Fincher films. There is a fight scene which is absolutely brutal and is up there with Cruise fighting Cavil in the toilet in Fallout. The plot is very thin and Fassbender is the only character really, apart from cameos and that’s what let it down for me. It needed a Mills and Somerset or Tyler Durden and Tyler Durden duo to make the plot more interesting and more dialogue.
I’d put it just above Panic Room but maybe below The Game. Way below Zodiac, Seven, Social Network, Gone Girl and Fight Club. And Mindhunter the TV series.

Beautiful, I thought i'd missed it as it was only in the cinema for 1 week. I'll add that to the list
Watched the Marvels last night, outside of Loki & GOTG the recent batch of Marvel offerings have been suspect. This was absolutely primed to be another one of those and I think it will probably flop. Which is a huge shame because it's surprisingly good, maybe it's because the bar has been so low.
This has got a bit of the old Marvel format back that worked so well
Generic Mcguffin plot - tick Terrible villain - Tick B list characters - Tick Post Credit scene that actually teases something new - Tick
And yet it works so well, the tone is all over the shop but that's not a bad thing. Brie Larson get's a bit more to do this time around and the other 2 Marvels are pretty good support. The big plus is the action scenes actually feel like someone has put some effort in to them for a change. I think the reason I liked it so much is because it tells its own story without tieing into the multiverse stuff that seems a bit tiring
It'll end up being like Solo and flopping because of it's predecessors issues but worth a watch if you like Marvel films. 7.5/10

I'll watch it, mainly because the other half wants to and I chose the last thing we saw together which he hated - Five Nights At Freddie's which was oddly bloodless, slightly dull, and tonally a bit weird.
Anyway, last thing I saw was Dream Scenario which was excellent and funny. A satire on cancel culture and chasing fame by going viral told through a story about a random bloke who appears in people's dreams across the world for some reason.

Ad Astra
Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones
It’s beautifully shot, the music score is good and the design of the sets and the visuals are superb so that is all positive.
The science is ludicrous and the storyline is oh so slow. Actually thinking about it it’s not really about space exploration but more about emotions of a father abandoning his son.
Brad Pitt was excellent as always, Tommy Lee Jones was barely in the movie and phoned in his performance (is that an American term?) and I cannot recall if Liv Tyler had even one spoken line.
It’s not a bad movie but it’s forgettable, 5/10

Seven years in Tibet
I watched one Brad Pitt film and Netflix and the algorithm made a line of recommendations of his other work so I watched another
Based on a true story of an Austrian climber who was a media/propaganda darling in the Third Reich for being part of a team to climb the North face of the Eiger in the Alps. Now that doesn’t mean a whole lot to me but I googled some photos and you want serious skill and bravery just to even try! I would be dead in 10 minutes if I attempted it.
WWII breaks out during their expedition to the Himalayas and they become POWs in British India. The British officer told them they would be prisoners but was very proper and polite about it. Politeness - is the British way haha!
Not really a spolier to say there is an escape and the two main characters end up in Tibet in a holy city closed to foreigners. The Dalai Lama who is still with us has a role as a young boy and very new to his role as spiritual leader. The peaceful people of Tibet with ancient & inadequate weapons were crushed quite easily by the forces of China.
I liked this movie. 6.5/10

Taking the family to see Wonka over the weekend, which I was not that excited about. That is until I found out Neil Hannon (musical genius) wrote the music and now I am hoping it won't be so bad.

Napoleon 6/10
I don't get how you make a story about one of historys most interesting men so boring?
Throw in a top tier director and actor and it makes less sense.
Tonally all over the shop, the story is a dull love story that doesn't really earn it and so much is rushed when it comes to what makes Napoleon interesting
Starting to think it would make an unbelievable 3-4 season TV show instead
At least it ends with the English beating the French

Yeah, long film and mostly a boring love story that never felt particularly compelling or something you could root for.

I'd hope so, but I read it was going to feature more of Joséphine’s life before she met Napoleon so who knows.
