I agree, many of our European neighbours would not put up with this!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Without a doubt the people who will pay the true price of all this are the owners of the property damaged and destroyed, but also every tax payer and insurance policy owner in the country. We will all face bigger bills to help the insurance comapanies recoup their losses, and higher tax contributions to help the government cope with the extra expenditure this has cost them. Those found guilty of these offences should be the ones paying the price. Current sentencing powers go nowhere near what is needed to make good the damage and upset caused by this mindless thuggery and vandalism. As always, the guilty will get away with little more than a slap on the wrists. Thats if they are apprehended in the first place, which of course the great majority won't be. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

Jerry1971. Straight from the heart absolutely agree but will it happen noooo we have to look at the individual perpetrators and assess how we may help them, shortly afterwards for them to re offend!
All those locked up give them 5 years community service, remove all mobile phones and deport non uk citizens.

I was listening to an interview with Brian Paddick (the former deputy commissioner of the Met and now a Lib Dem politico who stood for London Mayor) on 5Live just now. He said that the Met has no access to water cannons, and lacks the appropriate training to use them.
Honestly. Get fire engine, point hose at thug, switch on. What is so hard about that?
How on earth did we survive the blitz and win two World Wars? I despair as to the future of this country if we cannot even keep peace on our own streets.

Do you not think the fire engines might be a bit busy putting out fires?

Multi-tasking Ricola! Point at the fire for a few mins, and then spin round to drench a few chavs. ;D

Never mind water cannons, the Met Police have said they might start firing rubber bullets tonight.

Probably, and sadly, rubber bullets will be a necessary tool to try to disperse the thugs.

What's the betting London will be quiet tonight now that all those extra police have been moved in. Only for Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester etc to see trouble in the absence of their police who are helping out in the capital? Or am I just being cynical?

I think it's only the home counties' Police forces that are helping out. It already kicked off in Birmingham and Liverpool last night so I doubt they'll be caught out. Even in Scotland the police are expecting trouble.
As far as water canons go, some police commander was just on the radio saying they'd be useless as they're only effective when you have large stationary groups you want to disperse. Apparently baton rounds will only be used if they come under fire from live rounds or if life is being endangered.

Use real bullets, send out a deterent to the w@nkers, cull a few of the lowlife gene pool. Snipers from Helicopters could work well.
